I very excited about it.  My first tournament is at lake Jackson in Georgia which I have struggled at big time.  Any tips about bass clubs?

Gratz!!

Are you a boater or non-boater?

I would love to join one myself but I fish out of a smallish 16ft with a 30hp and plus I'm a stubborn solitary fisherman and wouldn't do well with a non-boater :-[ ;D

You do.  I joined up back in March as a non-boater and have done 4 tnx so far.  I'd say my knowledge and skills have increased 4 fold.  The way we're set up is we draw boaters each tnx and we can't fish with the same boater twice until I've fished with everyone.  You get exposed to different fishing styles and bodies of water.

Congrats on finding a club.  If the club is managed well and has friendly members you will learn a lot.  IMO, club members should be willing to share secrets and techniques with each other to both improve the average knowledge of the club members and to create a fairness when fishing club tournaments.  Never expect all members to give up all of their secrets but many can be very helpful to others.  Once you have had the chance to fish with many of the members, you will be surprised by the knowledge you have picked up just by talking with and watching what the others are doing.  I wish you luck on your tourney and I wish you luck with your new club.
