ProCrafter Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I wouldnt know what club to go to in NY but as for why a club....If anything to learn local waters and most importantly...most prevelent patterns and colors. Once you know the prevelent patterns and colors you can then spread out to other fisheries in the region and re-create and refine your presentations to accent your fishing style...that is what trips up alot of touring anglers when travelling around the country, they try to force their fishing style on the region and it makes them look silly compared to someone who has done their homework or got reliable info. UPS VT Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I joined to learn more about different techniques. It is also great to meet other anglers and club tournaments are a lot of fun. I have made friends that I would not have had I not joined. If you go on to nybassfed.com you will find clubs in your area. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 30, 2009 Super User Posted April 30, 2009 Its not what you know but who you know. Networking in bass fishing is a definite plus and by joining a bass club you will meet the old geezers and young studs and their friends and learn about tackle shops and others in your area who sell tackle or repair rods and reels. Other advantages: Where to launch your boat. Secret places to fish. Different techniques to use and when. Tournaments that make you get on the water and fish. Lifelong friends. People you can speak "fishing" to and not get into trouble. Like, how would it sound in a grocery store or church if you said to a guy, "she loved my worm, took it in her mouth, sucked on it but then she spit it out."???? Learn about different boats and how they operate. Same for motors and accessories. And lots more. So consider joining a club and see if the rewards are worth your time and money. Quote
dmac14 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 There is plenty of clubs in NY just look to towns close by, if there are none, try to start your own. As for why to join, join because you will get information from several different people on techniques. Quote
