Anyone a member of this? They sent me a big envelope full of stuff wanting me to join. They claim they'll send me "fishing gear" for me to try out. I'm supposed to simply fill out a questionnaire telling my opinions about the product and the product is mine to keep. They are claiming rods, reels, rod/reel combos, lures, tackle, apparel and some other stuff. The membership fee is $1 per month. Does/has anyone experienced this club? Is it worth my time? Should I throw the stuff in the trash?

I too am curious about this club. I joined just to try it out and see what all I get. The moment they quit sending me things or whatever, I will cancel it. However it's been about a week and they haven't responded yet...

I talked with my teacher/OCHS Angler team leader, and she says that the club is basically out for your money, but Idk, $1 a month doesn't seem too bad. I just hope they are true to word about all the benefits they are advertizing.

I will know when I get a reply...

God bless  8-)

Just remember that the gifts are on a progressional basis, so you would have to be a member for a long time to get the good stuff.  Other than that the magizine is not that good, and the first "free" gift that I got was two pieces of rubber that were supposed to help you wind line on a reel.  Also, they will spam call you with some guy from India and ask about all kinds of offers and renewal information.  All in all, they spend money on a lot of junk mail that they could use for better gifts and it gets kind of annoying.  I cancelled my subscription after one year just because the magizine wasnt worth my time, but if your in it for the long run, it may be worth a try.

Good luck.At first it sounds like a good deal..then they started sending me crap and started to expect me to pay for it...Books for $20.00 a piece and they send them every month...if you don't return them they try to "sue" you or get a credit agent after you. It's a big scam to try and get money out of you.

I'd stay away.....I wish i did.

i'm a member i got my 1st package from them they sent me 12 lb triline xl ,a book called bass stratigies, and the wing it bobbers, i'm waiting for my next product test as of now, plus i got fish hooks, and a berkley frenzy in chartruse. i enjoy the magizine since its a multi species mag as well.

Don't like it.... Don't care much for the books, don't care much for the test products.  Most expesive thing I've every gotten was 3.99 weights.  Don't really care for the mag as well.  Kind of a waste of money in my opinion.

for all you skeptics out there that are afraid its a scam...its not. they really do send you stuff for field testing and you really do get to keep it free of charge. but its usually little crap for crap things like i got some bug repellent wipes and a sample pack of 3 worms (got that same sample pack 3 different times too). i thought it was all cool at first, but its really just a waste of money. theres no true benefits of this club. they just want money. even the magazine isnt very informational. the only good thing is the forum. but my friend's membership expired and he can still access the forum. the forum doesnt compare to BR for information tho....BR is sooo much better. the fishing club forum is more about making friends and being buddies with everyone, not fishing lol.

so all in all, the NAFC is for real, but i think its a waste and i advise you not to become a member.

My biggest problem with them is trying to make somebody pay for something they didn't order or ask for...I never did receive my mag. which started this whole mess....I sent one of the bass books back(19.99 one) which they claim i never did...and now they were trying to bill me for it.

All they want is in your wallet...

I know a few guys going after NAFC for harassment in lawsuits now because of that.

WARNING WARNING OH MY GOSH  WARNING...

Get this, I sign up for what I thought was a magazine subsciption to North American Fishing Club and received three issues of their crappy magazine and some cheap hooks I'd never use here in Galveston.  Today I received a bill for forty-three dollars! and an invoice that says that my "Free" Lifetime membership is going to be two-hundred eighty-five dollars, which I have already accepted to pay by purchasing the subsciption (when I called to cancel my subsciption, the woman on the other end said "did'nt you read page three of the flyer we sent you? That's where if you look closely, you agreed to pay the membership which you are behind on".  Three magazines and six months of membership and I'm suppose to be three-hundred dollars in debt to these scam artists.  I promised to sue if they sent me so much as another flyer - This club is a scam and anyone signing up for it needs to cancel now.  I just hate that I paid them with a check - still, so help me if they try to tamper with me any further.  A lawyer and lawsuit will be the least of their worries.  I still plan to report them to the authorities.

Now that's some BS if I've ever heard any.   ;D ;D

A Kistler rod?  Come on.  I was a member of that club for 6 years while I was in college.  All I ever got was several packets of Eagle Claw hooks, a plastic fish hook remover, a small worm tote that would cost me $3 in the store, and a few patches.

No way they sent you a Kistler!  You sure you don't want to edit that before too many people see it?   ;)

In my opinion they are a junk club.  They send you books and films to review then try and charge you $20 for them later on.  I told them to quit sending me them, because I was tired of going to the post office to send the junk back.

I have worked in the Collections business for 4 years now, for those of you saying they are billing you and what not, if you didnt sign..IT DIDNT HAPPEN. Paying by personal check is acknowledgment however when it goes to collections if you send a CERTIFIED cease and desist letter then the debt will go away, if there isnt a contract on file then there isnt anything they can do to you

I actually enjoy it.  I am a life member, so only paid dues for one year and don't have to pay anymore. Got a free fishing reel, just a shimano sienna i think but still, free, and a free shimano rod, the rod was actually pretty nice.  I enjoy the magazine, good articles and plenty of fishing tips.  They do try to get you to join in some of their additional clubs like the books, $10 each, or the dvd's.   actually liked the bass strategies hard cover book.  But i didn't want anymore so one simple phone call was all it took to tell them i didn't want to be in the book or dvd clubs and the person was very polite on the phone. I get lots of fishing line and hooks.  Ocassionaly get to test something. As long as you write a report on it and send it back in in time, you get to test more.  And they usually get better. The magazine is not as good as BASS but, it's still an extra fishing resource.  And I have never gotten a phone call from anyone trying to sell me something. The e-mails are great info, but if you don't want to recieve them all you have to do is tell them.

Please read FAQs before posting. NAFC is one of the very few

topics that are off limits. You have obviously done a search in

order to dig this thread up from 2007. There are many more if

you are interested in additional discussion. However, this is not

a topic we are going to re-visit here.
