drmnbig Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I'm chomping at the bit to find a club to fish as a non-boater in until I can get back in a boat. I live in the Shenandoah Valley and there is only one club that I know of over here and all they do is 2 day tournaments. That's fine once in a while but I have two young kids and I honestly don't have the money to fork over for a hotel room plus tournament fees every other weekend. If any of you know of one let me know. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 Yes, there are clubs all over Virginia. Do you want B.A.S.S. or FLW? Most of our clubs are now FLW but B.A.S.S. is still around. Sorry you don't live in Richmond as we are seeking new members for our club. Try these sites: www.vabass.com Then click on Federation and then click on Region 1 www.vafederationnation.com Check in with them as to clubs in your area. Good luck. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 Don't forget the Richmond Fishing Expo on January 16, 17 and 18. You will enjoy the show and it is worth the two and a half hour drive from your area to the Richmond Raceway. We are also planning to have a big Forum get-to-gether at the show on Saturday, January 17 so make plans to join us so we can meet you and you can meet some of us. Watch for the Richmond Fishing Expo posts in the Southeast Fishing section in the "Important Topics" sectrion at the top of the page. Stay warm and watch out in the snow. Quote
drmnbig Posted December 9, 2008 Author Posted December 9, 2008 I'm honestly new to "club" fishing so I don't really know what to look for. I used to have a great fishing partner and he decided to turn his life in a bad direction so we parted our ways. Unfortunately, it's been about 6 years since then and other than the occasional co-worker or my dad I've been fishing alone. Basically, I'm looking to find others that enjoy it as much as I do. I'm planning on making the trip to R'mond for the show. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 9, 2008 Super User Posted December 9, 2008 Go on each web site and see what clubs are in your area and e-mail or call them and get the details about: Annual Dues Big Fish Club Pot Optional Money for Each Tournament Pot Optional Money for Each Tournament Big Fish Pot How Long is the Initiation Period - Usually 3 to 6 Tournaments What is the Age Group of the Guys Where do They Fish How Many Tournaments do They Have Each Year Just ask and then give some a visit. drmnbig Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 I know I've saw your name on their site. I actually know several of the guys in the club. I also fished the open tourney on Mill Creek with you last year. I fished with my wife in the 18ft Quantum. I've thought about joining the club but I'm not sure if that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'd honestly like to hit some of the bigger lakes with whichever club I join. BTW, I think I'm gonna fish the open again this year. Quote
