BassFishingMachine Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Well as the years go by im seeing tons of new baits and even old baits having feathered trebels added to the back trebel. Although what I've noticed is "most" highly effective baits don't have feathered trebels. What do you think about the whole idea, do feathered trebels work well for you? Is there a specific condition/season you prefer them? Do you prefer them year round? Whether you don't like them or are for them, please explain why if you could. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 I like them on baits that will be sitting still for a period of time, like topwater poppers and suspending slash baits. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 I use them on the back of size 100, 200, 300 Bandit cranks, and Baby One Minus always and occasionally on Traps. Quote
kikstand454 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 well i learned me something. i woulda never have thought to put feathered vmc's on bandit 100's. thats awesome thank you. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 They are not VMC, they are Owner Tournament Trailers made with Owner Stinger Treble hooks. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 I use them on the back of size 100, 200, 300 Bandit cranks, and Baby One Minus always and occasionally on Traps. Never thrown a diving crank with feathered treble. Does this change the action of the bait at all. Those cranks looked very appealing. Gonna give them a shot with falling around the corner. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 Looks like another good idea I've never had. I'll give it a shot Quote
detroit1 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I don't remember who made it (anybody know?), but i use to have a rattle bait that you passed your line through the body, and then tied on your treble. (there were no hook eyes) I would use a feathered treble with a pc. of splitshot right above the knot, and with pauses and jerks that hook would drop about 5" and then jerk back up to the body. It looked cool and caught a few bass. Then a pike bit the treble and broke the line, and i lost the body. Anyways, i find no difference on my surface baits, and i have a few jerks with a small white feather... Quote
MichBassMan Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Detroit 1, the bait your refering too was made by "MANNS". It was much like the Manns Maniac but as you said the line went thru the bait and tied to a hook. I havent seen them in 10 years or more. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 The feathered treble slows the side to side wobble a little due to resistance, but the fish love it. It kind of gives the action of a jointed Shad Rap. Quote
skillet Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I put them on 2 of my 100's to see how they worked. Bought a clear Spook Jr last week and put one on it. Haven't fished them enough to give an opinion yet. If I think it's worth it, you'll hear about it ... As Ever, skillet Quote
