spinnerbaitalways Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I am in a bass club in West Tn, we are going to vote wether or not to go back to "BASS" next meeting currently we are in "FLW" I am looking for some helpful opions as which way to vote? Quote
bassnleo Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 IMHO, you have to look at which organization is going to support you and offer opportunities for advancing. Which organization will suit your clubs needs? Personally, to me it seems that B.A.S.S. is going in the opposite direction, eliminating amateurs from the Elite Series and cancelling the federation team series are examples. It would not suprise me if eliminating the federation classic spots were next on the chopping block. The FLW/TBF seems to be gaining speed and currently offers quite a bit of advancement opportunity. The All American, Living the Dream, etc......Next year will be our clubs 3rd TBF year and we have been very happy. Just curious, why is your club thinking of going back? Quote
deadeye32. Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Our club is going to decide whether or not to go back to B.A.S.S as well. We are currently affiliated with FLW and I think people have issues with the insurance stuff. I'm not effected because I am covered, but I am interested in what people have to say about this. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 4, 2008 Super User Posted November 4, 2008 Bassnleo summed it all up. And anyone who tells you different And what are these insurance issues deadeye? Quote
deadeye32. Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Well this is my first year in this particular club, but last year at the top 8 tournament, several of the guys in our club and other clubs could not fish because they didnt have the $300,000 insurance coverage on their boat. They were apparently not aware of this before the tourny and more than half the field couldnt qualify. I think this is the major issue people are having, but I dont know exactly. I think FLW is a better option personally because I like the opportunity to fish on into bigger events. Quote
Bass Hole Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 This will end up being a individual choice for you and the members of your club you must weigh the positive and negatives in both and make an educated choice for your vote. As for insurance issue that deadeye32 speaks of thy are the same in BASS or TBF. The state federations can set the amount at what thy see fit but once you advance beyond the state level to the divisional's you must have $300.000 worth of liability coverage so most set the amount at that. The difference between. Just so you are aware the difference between $100.000 and $ 300.000 is about $10.00 a year. Now since you asked I will give you my humble opinion BASS Federation has done away with so much of there program that there is not much left to go back to. It was rumored that the Jr bassmasters would lose there championship spots @ the classic and thy did and not only that thy lost there travel expense. It was rumored that the BCWC would be ended and it was. again it was rumored the that there would be no more coangelers at the elites and mind you a federation got priority entry to those thy are also gone. the new rumor is the divisional's will be gone after 2009. So if History repeats it self thy will be gone also. all the TBF programs are still in place and stronger than ever and show no signs of going anywhere Quote

bassnleo Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Bass Hole summed up the insurance deal. Also, regarding each organization, I forget to metion that you absolutely HAVE to examine your state and which is stronger there. Which one has stronger leadership, monies, tournaments, etc.... Seriously.....if you need more info on TBF I will put you in contact with one of it's national board members, all you have to do is PM me. He will candidly answer any questions you may have. Quote
bassnleo Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Forgot to add, I've been a federation member under both BASS and TBF/FLW. Overall, it truly is a shame that their remains a split in the amateur organizations. It weakened both sides somewhat and it had the same effect at the State levels. I have been and remain to be an district level board member in our State Federation. Our numbers are obviously down since the split but we have been making very steady gains since TBF ***. I made the 2009 Mid Atlantic TBF Divisional so after next year I will be able to tell you first hand about how TBF does things at a larger level. Our State hosted the 2008 Divisional and everyone involved was very impressed with how TBF handled this event, I'm sure it will hold true next year also. Who knows, maybe I'll make the All American? hart101080 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 well i can say in the state of ohio my club has both bass an tbf. An bass has changed an changed for the good .The nation has started like a series of five touraments an a points system . Top 8 anglers an top 4 co anglers make the state team . So the people that make it end up being good sticks an not somebody who got lucky at one or only good at certain lakes we get all around anglers . An just let me say i fished them all an they did a great job an had a lot of great sponsors to. Ive fished both an just BASS is hands down better . But that might just be in ohio i cant speak for other states . An i know a lot of clubs here are switching just to BASS. So for what its worth thats my veiw Quote
