budaman Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Do u HAVE TO BE 18 OR OLDER TO JOIN b.a.s.s Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Nope, any person of any age can join BASS. You have to be 8 to join a Jr. Club though Quote
budaman Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 I,m 16 so i can join the regular bass or do i have to join the junior and what r the benefits. Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 At sixteen and never being in a club before I'd say look for a nice adult club. I've been in you situation before and I actually started a Jr. Club and it really wasnt worth it for me to be in the jr. club for two years. I won every tournament we fished and I didnt learn anything. The adults in the adult club will offer you so much more to learn from them. btw- I've been fishing in the adult club since i was 15, only a year younger than you, and last year i won angler of the year and became the youngest person from PA to every qualify for a midatlantic divisional team. Us kids can achieve greatness too, just make sure you keep your mind open to new things. Quote
fishizzle Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Great story Brett and I support his theory Club events are fun And much to learn Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 lol thanks, i find it easy to relate to this post. its a decision I had to make myself Quote
Americangirl Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Bud, I agree with BassnBrett, join a local adult club as a coangler. There is so much to be learned from the back of a boat from these guys/gals. It is where i began and my 16 year old daughter will begin soon. She has fished with me for years, knows how to fish. But There is more to be learned about tournament fishing than well, just fishing. it is a great learning experience and you make some friends along the way. Joining B.A.S.S is a great decision, Bassmaster magazine offers information on anything and everything in the fishing industry. It is something i look forward to reading every month. and is well worth the $14.95 a year subscription. I give these subscriptions out to alot of my family/friends at xmas etc................also when you are ready to take the plunge, being a B.A.S.S member benefits you to fish the B.A.S.S events at 16 you are elgible to fish....All my Best..Go Get em!!!!!!!!! budaman Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 THX guys and women :-?lol so i dont have a boat how would u join these tournaments do they pair u up with somebody or what. Quote
Americangirl Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 you can enter as a co-angler/non-boater and fish from the back of the boat. more cost effecient especially with feul costs, but again a great learning experience.. Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 yeah you would hveto be a coangler, but for your experience level its for the best. Don't worry you'll learn so much from being a coangler Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I'd say look for a nice adult club. - muddy Sorry, to add something constructive to the thread, I'll say joining a club is a great idea. I am joining fishizzle's club soon just to see what all the fuss is about and to fish some different lakes. Quote

Bassnbrett101 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 search google for the Maryland BASS Federation Nation website. There should be a list of clubs and ways to contact them from there Quote
bassmedic46 Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 You'll learn a lot, Bass is a good organization to join, and american bass angler has a lot of tournements where you are joined that day with someone with a boat. Flw is also good to join same reason. Quote
