c17Lat Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Hi. I'm in the fishing club at Cornell University. This competitive college fishing sounds fun, but none of us here has a real bass boat. Anyway Icould get a boat company to sponsor us or something? I'm trying to figure out how we could get a boat to compete with. thanx Quote
bmadd Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 It's kind of complicated to get a company to lend you boats. It's easier to get local marine dealers to help out with boats. Your biggest problem when landing this deal however is insurance. If they lend you a brand new 21 ft glass boat with a 250hp on the back for one weekend tournament, an insurance policy for that boat for that weekend could cost you upwards of a thousand dollars! Your safest bet is to try and communicate with local bass clubs. You help out with their fund raisers and maybe compete with them in their tournaments and get to know them, you have a real good chance of a member lending you a personal boat. -Braden Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 plus if you guys have never fished out of a boat, and since you have no boats of your own, your pretty much out of luck for these tournaments. for the most part your not gonna be able to do good against guys that have boats to fish in regularly because they have boat experience. things like boat control and the fact that they can prefish come into effect. i suggest its not worth it unless you get a boat of your own Quote

I am all for bank fishing, and even competitive bank fishing. but even if you are given a boat, it's still one boat. not nearly enough to do anything like a tournament with, and all it would lead to is people fighting over who gets the boat on a certain day. my suggestion is to get jobs :-p Quote
