Is this club legit?? I've seen a few guys are members here. (Reel Mechanic) Do you really get a great deal of benifits from joining? Do you really get to review quality products and keep them for free??

What do you guys know of this?

I am a member. Benefits, I havent really seen any. I have done product review and you do get to keep what they send, but you have to sign up for it. I was sent a Scum Frog lure to try out. The magazine is okay, I think I let my membership lapse though.

I had it for less than a year and cancelled it. I sent them a letter and stopped it after 6 months. It was like a merchandising scheme(not a dishonest one) built around a fishing club!!!!

had it for a year and dropped it.  Did get a nice fillet knife to test and some realistic worms to try for crappie (got me more bluegill than anything else though) and I also got to test some injector worms.  Other than that, the mag was ok...

I would not recommend this company. When I was in college.. 1997-98... I subscribed to the magazine. I then became a life member. At that time it was 285$, but you got a personalized rod... nice!!! But, evidently the company folded.. I stopped receiving the magazine and got no notification from the company on what happened to them......

Then about 5 years later I see the company back up and running... I would not trust them...

Just how I feel...

I was a member for many years. They have a decent all-species magazine. Since I've been a member of BassResource.com I've let my membership lapse, I feel I get more information pertinent to the type fishing I like right here. There is a wealth of knowlege here on this site, and a friendlier bunch of guys than on their site.

As far as the "field test" aspect, the products they advertise for field testing (rods, reels, trolling motors, coats, etc.) I've never seen anything like that. In seven years, the most expensive thing I tested was a $2.95 lure that broke.

BassResource.com is my source of information,

I am a life member with NAFC and wish that I wasn't. I have bought gear from them and have gotten used lures and a broken fish camera. I won't  buy anything from them again. I do like mag.

I am a life member and I have tested many of there products, but again like everyone has said above you never get anything more than 5 dollars to test.  Every now and then there magazine has some good articles.  I am in my 20's, so my life membership will eventually pay its self off with the subscription I get, but the Field Testing has been a joke for me.

Life member here as well--same as everyone else. Product testing is ok, but nothing spectacular. I believe they're based out of Minnesota somewhere, so a lot of the articles include fish indigenous to that region. My two cents: Not worth the life membership unless you fish for just about anything freshwater.
