buckwheat Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 has any one ever tryed this club. and if so what do you think of it. Quote
Pa Angler Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I belong to it. I have just been offered a life time membership for $85.00. It's a multi species magazine not a bad deal for the money as far as I'm concerned. Try it for a year you can't wrong with that if you don't like it cancel. Everyone has their own opinions so take a chance. They give free lures for you to try out and report back on results and the more reports you give the more trial lures you will get. Chow Quote

Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 23, 2007 Super User Posted January 23, 2007 I've been a member since 2003. They're OK but I'm letting my membership run out. They do send things to "field test" but they are never high dollar items like they make it sound. They did send me a nice saddle bag to put on my snowmobile for icefishing. The only problem was, they forgot to ask if I had a snowmobile.........................NOT. It did make a friend of my son very happy though. Falcon Quote
mjhutch1116 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I have just recently become a life member. I think that the magazine that the club sends to its members is informative. The only field test item I have received so far is a filet knife. But so far the club has done alright by me. All you can do is give it a try and see what you think. Matt Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Im not a member but my friend is,he says its pretty good. Quote
Other. Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Im in it but its not that great. You can only feild test one item a year (so far i only feild tested a tru-tungsten jig) The forums are horrible, bassreasorce is a lot better. They give you little junk like patches and a letter telling you to buy the life membership alteast once a month. The odds of winning one of there contest is so rare since there are so many members. I dont really like the magazine that much because only a few pages of it deals with bass fishing. This is my last year of it, after that no more. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted February 4, 2007 Super User Posted February 4, 2007 I had it , didn"t care for it. Quote
boatnik13 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 I agree with most all above and after joing for 3 years in 2000. I found its so much better to let membership run-out and then they beg you back at 1/2 price. So much is spent trying to get you to be a life member that its no wonder they don't have anything other than dollar store tester kits. I'm told that> don't ever fall for the book testing. Infact > what I did years ago when I joined . I told them NO BOOKS and never had to play the shipping game that others fell into ($$). The magizine you get is 80%+ commercials. I say join for 2 years (1 at a time) and then spend a lifetime telling others NOT too! Quote
RI_Bass_Guy Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Tried it for one year...did not care for it Quote
Fishin4bass Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I was satisfied with it. had it for about 2 years then it ran out. Got a card stickers and patches at first. Then I recieved a lot of hooks, bobbers and swivels. I also got a Hard back bass book like the 15 dollar ones you see at walmart. Pretty nice I thought. Not to mention you get a magazine every other month. Its a decent magizine. Not the best for bass but some months especially in the spring and summer there were lots of good articals. Also every magazine had a lot of free items you could win or field test. Lots of great info on baits. I think if you get the life time for a cheap price its not that bad for all the free items you get and its has a decent and very wide fishing site and fourm. Pretty much can meet any type of fishermen through the fourm which I like when your trying to learn about new kinds of fishing. If you are just a Bass fisher though I would suguest you find a Bass club. Quote
TeamHillbilly Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hummmmmm The mag was Okay, about the same thing as In-Fisherman, just not as good. I've tried it a couple of times, never got any items to field test, but everymember doesn't ? You could ask for a sample copy of the Mag if you want to try it. JUST DO NOT GET STARTED WITH THE BOOKS, THEY WILL SEND ONE OR TWO THEN THE WHOLE SET SHOWS UP ON THE DOOR STEP ???????? IT WILL TAKE YOU AT LEAST A YEAR TO STOP THE BOOKS FROM COMING, SOME ARE OKAY BUT MOST OF THEM ARE JUNK. > > > Quote
bassaholic022 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Had it, wouldnt do it again. Yea I got suckered into the books. Lots of good info. But you get one before you pay for the last one. Seems like I was getting 2-3 a month. Field tested 1 screwed up looking lipless crankbait. Told them what I thought like I was supposed to, never tested another item. Guess they didnt like what I told them. Also bought a spinning rod and reel from them. I think it was a pinnacle. Took forever to get it. Took it out, spooled the reel, tied on the lure, swung the lure out, rod broke in half. Sent it back. Took 4 months to get them to stop billing me for something I had returned. Quote
