Super User Root beer Posted January 30, 2007 Super User Posted January 30, 2007 Anyone have a bass club in east tennessee around cherokee or douglas lake? Or anyone interested in helping me get started we both could start one. I dont want it afflitated by BASS or FLW I just want a simple bass club with atleast 15 boats. Nothing fancy just a simple bass club for guys that cant afford bigger tournament. Boaters insurance isnt neccasary because I cant afford it. I'm trying to get one started, but I dont know how to attract a decent amount of people. There a lot of tournament trails out around here bunch small one and I dont know if anyone wants to fish with my club. I was plan on doing a different format. Every tournament change the format. Like one weekend do a 2 day tournament by doing a shootout. One man vs another man in order to advance etc. Or one tournament do a 1 fish only weight in and another weekend do a 5 fish, etc. Just change format every tournament. Do some night tournament, some day tournament. I would love to get enough member for a march tournament and end in october. Entry fee might be 15-20 bucks a boat. Anyone want to try to start one? Danceswithbass Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Im not sure why you would want to change the format of every tournament. That would seem to be very confusing and people wouldnt be willing to put up money if the rules arnt solid. Now if you get people interested, and they as a club vote to do it that way, then there wont be a problem. Thats the thing about a club, the people that make up the club decide what to do by vote. gloomis7 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Danceswithbass- I'm actually in a club on Douglas Lake that Fishes on Saturday nights, I'm not sure if they're accepting members right at the moment but it would be worth a try. I also know that this one isn't the only one on Douglas, I'd say if you dropped by the ramp on Friday and Saturday night you could find a couple of small clubs. Our season starts in March and continues through Spetember and there is a classic at the end of the year. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 There are numerous clubs in the area you are talking about, Newport Bassmasters and New Market Bassmasters are two that come to mind, but there are several others as well. Stop by Bucks'N Bass in Dandridge and visit with the fishermen that are there, they can provide you with more info. A lot of club members hang out there and at one time used this tackle shop for a meeting place.......................Al Quote
Danceswithbass Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 gloomis7, I was actually trying to hook up kwchnl89 with some guys. I live in Oklahoma. But I visit the forum at the web site I listed because there are some good fishermen and hunters on there. Thanks DWB Quote
gloomis7 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Thats cool DWB I actually just mis-pasted the wrong name at the beginning of my reply. haha Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 1, 2007 Author Super User Posted February 1, 2007 I wanted to change format so we could have some fun fishing different style. I thought it be fun. It something different. I'm about to go to toms sporting good store and see if there any club posting looking for member I might end up joining one. But I dont know what I can do since I cant afford boat insurance and a lot of them requires some sort of liability. I dont know how much my liability be. For 100grand liability i check it out with all state it was almost 270 bucks A MONTH. I'll check out web site and if I cant find decent club here in morristown. I'll PM one of you guys for more information. Oh it be nice if the clubs had web site I could go and check out. If they dont then that cool. Quote
gloomis7 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 kwchnl89, Last summer I fished in a little gathering of guys that fished that way- changing the rules every week. It was fun, it was always cool to show up at the ramp and know something will be different than it was the last week. One night we would just fish for one big fish and the next we'd fish for a 5 bass bag. It was up to the director. We did one in July that was whoever could catch the biggest fish the quickest, the director waited at a certain spot and the anglers had 6 hours to come up with a big fish and make it back to the director who weighed the fish and then called the other anglers to let them know who was in the lead. That was really different and fun. P.s the clubs that i've been a part of have never said anything about liability....? Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 1, 2007 Author Super User Posted February 1, 2007 Anyone on here that involve in a club please PM me for information if the club is taking membership. Dad said he could afford the basic liability (if it is required). So just let me know and I want to fish on a club and learn a thing or two while fishing clubs. I'm 17 year old, but i got a boater education license and all that good stuff. I used to fish a gathering last year, but it wasn't a club we just got together on thursday night had a touranment at 12 bucks a boat. Well let me know if any club taking membership and send me PM about all the information like membership price, entry fees, etc. Quote
Danceswithbass Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 kw, if your just breaking in to tournament fishing you should consider finding a small club and entering as a non boater or co angler. That will be much less expensive. And you can get a feel for what it takes to win some money. Your young enough that most anyone would welcome you to their club just to learn the ropes. Check with the BassMasters clubs the gut mentioned, or if ya'll have spring tackle shows like we do here, thats a good place to find fishing clubs. You can use your own boat to practice out of and then back boat during the tournament. Go for It man. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 2, 2007 Author Super User Posted February 2, 2007 I'll google the clubs and see if I can find links for them and such. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 2, 2007 Author Super User Posted February 2, 2007 I manage to find one on TWRA web site under the bite program. There one in bean station called "cherokee bassmaster" Thing is they dont give you the president number or any of that. grrrr. Only club I can find with web site and contact is the east tennessee bassmaster the Federation club. I dont want to do the federation this year. Quote
Danceswithbass Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 You dont have to fish the federation events, just the club events. If they are set up like we are, they have 3 qualfying tournaments to make the state team. But they also have a regular schedual they fish because not all the members will fish the qualifying tourneys. I'd contact them before you blow them off. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 2, 2007 Author Super User Posted February 2, 2007 I already contact ETBA. I cant really afford to fish with them. I'm interested in cherokee bassmaster, but no number to call or web site. Oh well I guess I'd just spend rest of this year free fishing and learn on my own and try to find that thursday night guys again. Quote
Danceswithbass Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Cherokee Bassmasters Ronnie Depew 918 Woody Ln. DANDRIDGE TN 37725 There ya go. Good luck Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 2, 2007 Author Super User Posted February 2, 2007 From information I had tournament director was eddie mullen and was in bean station. Anyhow you have his number? Just PM me it. Quote
Danceswithbass Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 No. I got the info from the FLW web site in the TBF "the bass federation" state contacts.
