Jnamo Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 How does your club go about picking a Classic location. Our club lets the Tourney Director pick it the morning of. I don't like the idea of one person getting to pick a location. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks! Quote
BASS fisherman Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I live in Pa, and the pick of lakes for a classic in Pa aren't that good. We do ours on Raystown lake, which, I believe, is the largest lake in Pa. Each year we have a meeting in November for the upcoming year, and all the locations for the tourneys are decided upon. If you go, good, your input is needed. If you don't go to the meeting, too bad, you don't have a say in the tourney locations. I think having one person pick the location is alittle off, but to each his own, every club is different. Quote
Jnamo Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 I like the idea of not knowing until the morning of the event. But I believe it should be drawn out of a hat or something, not left up to one person to know. Not that anyone would cheat, but it eliminates any possibilities. Any more help out there? Thanks Quote
jeremyWBC Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I am the pres of a 50 member club in AR. We do it diff every year, this year me and the weighmaster decided. Last year we had a meeting the weekend before and let everyone who qualified put a lake in and draw to the last one and thats where we went. The year before we everyone who qualified voted down to 5 lakes and we drew from there. There are alot of ways you can do it. I know pre me the club here had a bad experiance on a classic where the pres decided the morning of and they went to 3 places before they could launch because of low water. Quote
Fish4FunInFl Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 We vote on every lake we fish ( classic or not ) Majority rules. We have a meeting every month except December and every member can nominate a lake to begin with. Then we get 2 votes on the lakes nominated. The top 3 lakes are then carried over for another vote, in which you only get one vote then. The one with the most votes is the lake we will fish. Quote
Bud Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I am the tournment director for our club and we let everyone who qualified put a lake in and draw. Quote
Jnamo Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Thanks to all that commented. I agree with all of your ideas. I like the idea of voting on it. The latest thing our club said was that maybe letting another club pick a lake for us. I don't know, seems pretty easy to me- Majority rules, right? I would like to vote. Quote
HPBB Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 The way our club pick the classic is The winner of the year before classic picks it. however it can not be at the say place more than two years in a row. It also has had to be on our schedule in the last two years. If not it has to be 100% aproved by all members Quote
