Blaze Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I got this package in the mail the other day and was wondering if any of you do this and is it worth it. I started to throw it away thinking it was just junk mail, but thought i would hang on to it to see what it was about. Thanx Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 3, 2006 Super User Posted March 3, 2006 If I'm not mistake, the North American Fishing club was started up by Spence Petros, one of the old Fishing Facts guys. Reputable I guess. I never joined or took them up on their offers because I already get too many magazines. Quote
paparock Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I was in for a year but dropped for exactly why you said. I can hardly read and keep up with all the other fishing material I get. I'm not knocking it but just like some others sources better; just my personal preference. Quote
Madhouse27 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I kind of look at it like I do "Field and Stream" and "Outdoor Life". It's not bad, it's simply to general for my tastes. I think for the casual angler who fishes for a variety of species and isn't a complete bass freak like most us on here it's an ok club and mag. Quote
crankin_king Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I am heavi;y involved in NAFC where "eye" instead of "I" was started but eye have been with them for about 1 1/2 years it is by far the best club eye've been with Quote
Whopper Stopper Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I was a member for four years. I don't know why I'm not one now though. They sent me some decent stuff to test. I can't remember exactly what, but I know one of the things was a spool station or something. They also send you nice hardcover books that you either buy, or just read and send back. They even pay the shipping. I currently belong to the North American hunting club. I think they're run out of the same place, because they have the same address. They just sent me a knife to test which from what I understand isn't considered a field test, so I should be getting something else sometime soon. I have also received two hardcover books from them that were worth buying. Quote
FALCON Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 HEY CRANKIN_KING, ARE YOU CATFISHBRAD ON NAFC? Quote
Cajun1977 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 im a lifemember in the nafc ive had products to test but nothing worth bragging about its a decent club but the website doesnt hold a candle to this one Quote
Bass_junky Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I belonged to NAFC for several years. I did not renew my membership, it was not worth my investmement. As far as the field trials on equipment, after three years, I was sent a fillet knife to test, woohoo....Gimmicks Gimmicks....The magazine is by far too general. If you have any experience with any fish species, the articles are boring. It may be beneficial for novices. Quote
boatnik13 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Ole NAFC! Yes I remember them days. joined for 4 years also with that dream that I would be testing big Items in time. First they lured me in with the $12 membership and testing. I get my first $ 2 test product that year just befor its over. I re-up and after 11 months for $15 and I get my $4 test product . Now they want $15 a year + send me a letter every 3 months begging me two be a Lifer for $$$'s .I don't sign on and they send me a deal to go 2 years for $22. Now that a deal or what ? so I go 18 months till I got my next test product ($5 value). Now they want a RE-UP for $15 . Now I'm thinking ! What did I get for 4 years and $49 > A nice use of a bulletin board. the best Bulletin board I ever read . Found more people near me fishing the same water then any site. BUT! this site "NAFC " was the only one costing me and nothing in return. Some tackle testing! More like support the LIFER ADVERTIZING every 3 months by mail. Oh they had a quarterly magizine (70% advertizements) . Quote
Minuteman Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I just got the packet in the mail too. I'm going to give it a try. I think I got an offer from them years ago, but didn't take them up on it. I was a member of different stuff in the 80's, but after we started having kids I let most of my fishing mags and stuff expire. Quote
