What Creative ways can you guys think of for promoting my sponsor................ What are some things you have seen Skeet Reese and Kevin VanDam do thats creative for their sponsors?

Bassmaster Classic. Full body paint with all your sponsors logo's painted on. Last day of weigh in. Go running on stage. That'll get your sponsors noticed. Haha! ;D

imho, if you weren't sure that you could handle the promotions and sales pitches, you should not have taken the job in the first place.

Your sponsors give you stuff in exchange for good work. You don't look for sponsors just to get free stuff - that's just cheating them out of their money. You look for sponsors because you are certain that the relationship would be mutually beneficial.

Im not running out of ideas, I was just curious on how you guys promote yours. Its not too big a job for me. I already have recruited one dealer in PA to sell their rods............ I am getting a jersey from them to wear to tournaments

I use my graphic design background to my advantage ;) Other than that, I don't really do anything out of the ordinary. Just go and 'sell' the products. Get a good book on sales and read it! I would suggest 'The Little Red Book of Sales' or anything that Richard Marcinko wrote. He is more about leadership, but it really helps your sales too.

KVD and Reese win tournaments thats the first thing they do for their sponsors and the most important.  If you don't win, or atleast consistently place at the top,  then who will care about you and what products you are promoting.

Well if you are spon by danali rods or if your just getting a jersey those are two big diffrences. IF your just getting a jersey and promoting their name everywhere your spon the rod company not the other way around. But if your recieving rods money or entry fees you need to call everybait n tackle you can find a number for. Theirs thousands and thousands of tackle shops that want the best gear. You need to be able to explain to them why your rod is better then most rods. And dont be afraid to call places like Bass pro shops and cabela's because each store has its own sales rep. Also get other fisherman to promote for you. Everyones always looking for a spon and tell them a company can become interested to spon them if they can sell the rods to diffrent tackle shops.

Another is cheap internet advertising at its everywhere. You want to put ads where they are going to work the best and fishing websites and forums are a good start.

There's nothing wrong with asking for ideas, networking and picking other people brains. To me that shows you're trying to find ways to be more valuable to them, or at least validate how valuable you currently are.

Try looking at some event marketing websites for ideas, that is ultimately what you are doing for them.

Also, talk to your sponsor and see what things they could use.

Data capture is a big thing for most companies today. If they can see value in having peoples contact info, set up a sweepstakes booth at the tourneys and other fishing related events you are attending. Have a friend man the booth, man it yourself, or pay a college kid to man it. Give away some nice prizes at the end of the season. Provide the entrants data to your sponsor for their e-lists, and you just gave them access to a whole bunch of potential customers.

There are laws and rules with this kind of thing - check them out. The customers must "opt-in" to receive anything from you or the sponsor.

My advice would be to find writers, either local outdoors columnists, regional magazine writers or even national writers who cover fishing and take them out for a few hours or a day. They are always looking for a new, hot angle that they can pitch to their editors. (Which means you better have something interesting to show them besides a new jig or spinnerbait.) Show them why the products you use are superior or perhaps offer some new, innovative ways to use those products. Put your rod/reel/lure/hook in their hands and let them use it and hopefully they'll catch some fish and take lots of photos. I guarantee your sponsor will be inpressed if you get his product mentioned in a major fishing magazine.

Also, find a fishing show host/producer and take him out on the water. You might talk to your sponsor and see if he's willing to sponsor the fishing show with you as the expert guest.

Offer to give seminars at a tackle shop that sells your sponsor's products. Give seminars at outdoor shows.
