and I have to say, it was very interesting to read all of the different views from the many threads on this board. I recently started selling my Jigs and I have been torn exactly just how to promote them. I mean I have a web site and all and I have been reading different sites.

So, Just this past weekend I contacted a Local Semi-Pro Fisherman down here where I live in Columbus Georgia about using my jigs and see if he would let me sponsor him.

Did you catch that part? I wanted to see if he would LET me Sponsor HIM, then I come here to this message board and I see this term called "Field Tester" and "Pro Staffer"

Then I'm like, hmm, so do I just get people to be Field Testers, sell them my jigs for 30% off and basically still make money? If I did that, then I would be willing to bet, I would probably get MAYBE one to two Field Testers, tops. Because I am an up and comer to the business, I doubt I get many people to try my Jigs at even a 30% Discount. My other option is to post/advertise that I need people to sponsor... Then I am going to be completely on the opposite side of the spectrum. I will then get every Tom, Dick and Harry that wants Free Jigs to contact me which will put me in an already seemingly large hole of debt starting something like this gets you.

So, with that said, I come here today and post this with a simple question. How should I go about this, what is the best way for me to get my Jigs name out there in the Bass Fishing world?

Here is how I would go about it, find people you TRUST can not only fish your lure with some success but can go to local businesses, tackle shops and individuals and sell the lure to them by talking intelligently and professionally about your lures. At the same time these have to be people who will act in a professional manner when they are around the people they are trying to sell too, including on the water. I had a pro staff director who I met with a couple weeks ago say it bluntly, I don't care if you catch another fish in the tournaments you represent me in. but never go on the stage and say any thing bad about the brand other people or any thing that could turn people off of the brand if you do that I don't need you.. Hope this helps.

I agree with Tommy, a persons character and salesman ship is alot more important then there fishing abilities, You can win every tournament you fish but if you are a d-bag to others and doing the typical things that p-off other non tournament fisherman ( waking other boats, not observing no wake zones, and crowding people out of there spots) I don't want my company name associated with you, no matter how many baits you sell!

Well there are a ton of guys out there (myself included) who are looking to be sponsored and would love the opportunity to join with a company just starting out and help them make a name for themselves. In my opinion its just a matter of weeding through guys and finding the ones that just fit.
