Welcome aboard!

There might be 100 pages or more in this section. I suggest reading

through the various threads and taking notes. Some of the authors

are pros, others are business owners. We have addition information

at the top of the page, "Fishing Articles".

LBH also posted a stickie in the top half of page 1 in this section:

Ask the larger companies to help you out. Have a complete resume built to give them explaining the purpose and the functions involved. Timing is everything. The first year we approached BPS they told us they have all their commitments completed for the current year by March 31. We visited with them mid December and our request was approved by mid January. They had our gift packages all boxed up and they called us and said it was ready for pickup the last week of January.  All we had to do was sign off for them. It was easy.

We have been in the door for several years now, and they expect us to show and have not denied us since.

Each store has their own budget for promotional items for each year. So get it together and approach them around the first of each year. Not sure but I figure the other outdoor companies will work along these lines.

Good luck.

As a college team, you have to have your foot in the door for them to know who you are and take a chance on you. That normally comes down to somebody knowing somebody or even better you as a club have a function that could get their name out.

We have done both and end the end we have had great results but it all comes down to our relationship with the company and will to work hard for them. We also make sure that we are working with high character companies...yea it sounds like a tough thing for a college team to do but there are alot of great companies out there. We just got lucky and have been able to work with some incredible sponsors.

The function can be just about anything that you can come up with but it should to be a good size with local media coverage and plenty of people. If you can setup something like that, the owner should be willing to talk to you more and it will help you feel like yall are on an even playing field (both of yall have something good to offer) which builds your confidence. I hope it helps some. I'm the president of the Troy University bass team. feel free to p.m. so we can trade ideas

Sponsors usually support either B.A.S.S. or FLW Regions.

If your club is in either association, then your region will get sponsors.

Unless you have a member in your club who wants to sponsor the club, I don't think you will find many businesses who want to invest in your club.  :-[   :-[   :-[
