bass buster Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I have been in aviation now for nearly 15 years. I have done many aspects of it and I am now ready to move on. I, like the rest of you have had a desired interest in working in the fishing industry. I live in Central Indiana so opportunities here are slim to none. I have been following Pure Fishing websites and monitoring open positions. Seems like these types of careers are few and far between. Do you all have any suggestions on what type of fishing industry careers are out there and what companies can you work for? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! Quote
CaptTodd Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Here is what I have found, those positions are very hard to come by because nobody ever leaves and if they do it is rare! I looked into a while ago. Best thing to do is try to find a startup company and grow with them through the industry. You almost have to have an "in" with someone at the big companies! Quote
Chris Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 You almost have to have an "in" with someone at the big companies!.....wrong you need to have something of intrest to bring to the table that will bring a spotlight to a company. What drives sales is the amount of face time the product or person pitching the product has to the public. Many products in your tackle box or boat are there because someone told you to buy it over another product. This doesn't mean that the product is of better quality than other items it means someone was better at telling you to buy it. What drives public opinion on what to buy or the cool things to have is the pitch man. The more people that tell you that this is better than that tends to change the buying responce of the public. This drives sales and this is the aspect that you need to work on. You must ask what can i do to drive the sales of a product that is different than what others are already doing. It is never who you know it is always what can you do to gain sales. Quote
CaptTodd Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 No Chris, I am not wrong. If you look at his question he is looking at getting into the industry himself not looking for sponsors. If he was looking for sponsors then yes your comment was right on the button. But to get an interview or even find a sales opening in this industry it is difficult. Quote
