I use to think that the guys on this website were so helpful and liked giving advice, and they are on every other forum. Then you come here and its like " Welcome, we are going to cut you down to size :o,". In the last two topics in this forum two guys put something up that were just regular topics. In the first three posts they where already being "cut down to size", listen what I'm trying to say is, GUYS WHO GIVE ADVICE ON THIS FOURM, CHEER UP. I don't think that I ever read something posted here that didn't turn into some sort of fight.

Whoa!

We make a big effort to maintain a cordial atmosphere on this Forum.

Please send me or any other Moderator a PM when you feel a thread

has crossed the line. However, you posted in the Resume section and

here the rules are much different. This section is designed to be brutal,

so don't post a resume or ask a question here unless you want a straight

forward answer and some "tough love".

Regarding your comment "that every thread turns into a fight", I think

you should probably reserve judgement since you have only been here

for a little more than a week.

If my comments seem to verify the statement you made, then this

probably isn't the right place for you. We require consideration, but

not submission. Discussions can be heated, but still courteous. Our

Forum is designed to be "family friendly", but you still have to run with

the big dogs or stay away from the fray.

How would you represent sponsors and expect to bring in clients if you are not at your best? This is just to make people better imo. Certain things do go a little far (I'm an _____), but it is not to make the person feel like crap or anything. It is to make yourself better. When you don't have an open mind, get all defensive, or come into the thread knowing it all and still post, that is when things get ugly.

Fishingismylife,

Please let me explain a few things even though Roadwarrior has hit the nail on the head.

We are here to help you.  Of course, there are people who will take your query and reply in an inappropriate manner, but 99% of the time you will receive good advice and suggestions.

When we address your concerns in the Fishing Resumes section, we are brutal to allow you to have our negative comments BEFORE you go public.

A number of us own our own businesses and we will let you know if your information gets our attention in a positive manner.

It is like practice for sporting events.  Practices can be brutal and harder than the games.

All we want to do is to help you improve yourself so you can get sponsors and fish as many tournaments as you can.

So when you think we are being nasty, take a step back and look at yourself as we are looking at you. Take our advice in a positive manner, even if we blow you out of the water due to your poor grammar, poor English or not presenting yourself in the best possible light.

Keep asking and posting and read, read and read!!!  ;)

Would you rather get blasted here and have a chance to fix it or when you approach a company to ask for their money?

To voice in with these guys. This particular thread is sort of like a job interview where you have the extreme advantage of hearing what is in your perspective employers heads.

The guys in this thread are doing their best to do you a great service. They are being straight up, honest, and helping you out. If you can get a resume through this section of the site, IMO, you will do considerably better than you would do walking into some sponsor and asking for help. THOSE guys will be brutal!

Really, I have spent a lot of time on a lot of boards online, the atmosphere on this board is the best I have seen to date. The moderators do their best at keeping it in line and not being so bad they become the gestapo.

If you do feel you are being blasted, truthfully, talk to the moderator, OR if you can do so respectfully, call the guy on it. I bet 99 times out of a 100 they will respond and set the air straight between you.
