Growing up in Western KY, I have been fortunate to have the Kentucky and Barkley Lakes to my availability. These two great fisheries are known for their abilities to produce HUGE limits of bass. I started fishing in tournaments heavily when I was 15, but already had some experience in fishing the adult tournaments. I knew what I was up against and stood ready to take the blow, entering into the world of competitive bass fishing. In fishing with the Western KY Jr. Bassmasters, I have learned a great deal about the sport. Beginning with no teachers, and little help, I quickly was able to climb from last, to the high end of the food chain. Since I do live a pretty good drive from the lakes, I have learned to spend at least a little of every day, in a farm pond or cattle pond, to practice and develop my prior fishing techniques. This, I believe, has been the major key to my success. As of this year I have decided to really pursue a career in fishing, and by choosing to do so, I have decided to fish the BASS Weekend Series as a non-boater. As a non-boater I believe I will have the most opportunity to learn, expand, and become known more than I ever have before. -What I can offer My Sponsors: Sponsor's logos on my Vehicle and Boat Sponsor's logos on my websites Sponsor's logos on my Tournament Shirts Distribution of promotional materials at events Appearances at Tournaments, sports shows, and other related events Demonstrations of products to potential customers Thanks for viewing this. Please if you have time, critique it. I'm looking at a potential sponsorship with shakespeare and Pflueger, and I would like them to have the best copy of my resume on record. And sorry, this might be a little uneasy to read, because I copy and pasted from a WORD doc. Thanks again, and God Bless -Wil Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I'm impressed with it. One of the best I've seen on here. Quote
The_Mad_Fisherman Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Thanks. I'm working hard, to make it the best I can, and be the best representation of me that I can get. Thanks again. Any suggestions? I know that I need to write a paragraph at the end, explaining why I would be a better than someone else to represent a sponsors company, but I hate writing about myself. I find it difficult because I feel like I'm boasting. Anyways thanks. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 17, 2008 Super User Posted February 17, 2008 OK Mad, I am sitting in my office and in comes you, with a smile on your face. My first reaction is, "what in the world does this kid want?" I think..."Who are you? What do you want? How much time will this take? Why should I do business with you? What can you bring to me? How will you increase my sales? Will you be an asset or a liability to my goodwill? Why do I want you to do anything for me?" And on and on. So, may I suggest adding a section as to how many people will see my logo? What age groups will see it? Can you speak well? Will you wear my logo on your concert shirt like you do on your bass fishing shirt? Will you give any free seminars at local tackle shops or fishing shows? If you get your photo in the newspaper or a magazine, will my logo be seen? If I have a seminar at my store will it bring in people who will purchase my product? Will you "wrap" your Grand Piano in the colors and name of my company when you have a piano concert? (Just kidding but it is funny) Can you get on TV and show my logo on your shirt or boat or truck? In other words, why in the world would I want to have you represent me? I don't care about your previous jobs. I don't care where you go to school, unless I hate your school (like LSU people sponsoring a Tulane guy - just won't happen). I do care about the number of people who will see my logo and if it is in the age groups that purchase my products or services. I do care if you have a criminal background or a DUI. What is so unusual about you is that you are a concert pianist. Try to parlay that into how you can help me sell more of my goods and services so I will have a nice return on my investment. Get my theory????? You are a super pianist and a super bass fisherman. A very unusual combination. So use that to your advantage. Give it some thought. Good luck. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 17, 2008 Super User Posted February 17, 2008 P.S. Like put a crankbait on top of the piano when you are in a concert to bring attention to your avocation Or place a rod and reel standing up by the piano. Just something to make you stand out from the others and have people ask you about it. Look what Liberace did for candlestick holders????? Get my drift? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Looks good. 1 sugg. In "mission" if you could give specific examples of how you plan to promote a product, i.e. trade shows, in shop seminar promotion, etc Quote
youngbasser87 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Nice resume. I kind of have a small problem with posting them on here though because now how many people will see your resume and copy their resume to be like yours? Again I think you really need something to make it unique. Right now I represent Jackall Lures, Gamma, Kaenon Polarized Sunglasses, Reel Grip, and Sure-Life (Please Relase Me) and they all receive hundreds of requests for sponsorship each week. Just at the Lunker's Fishing Extravaganza this past weekend over 30 people approached the rep about being a part of the Jackall promotional staff. When they get resumes they quickly scan over them and glance towards who your references are within the industry. So what I am saying is make something to catch their attention and remember yours, but don't have them filled up with photos and things because you can easily over do it. It's not at all about winning or doing well, it's all about making them the American $$$. You have a good resume though if you can personally meet the right person at a show or another event I believe this resume has a lot of potential. Quote
Pond Hopper Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Great looking resume, but turn your tourney finishes around. Start with the most recent ending with your first tournament finishes. When I apply to an employer they do not want to see what I did 4 years ago but more so what I did last year. Quote
