sponsorships for non-competing anglers

Just a note to remind people that you don't have to run the tourny trail to recieve some help from manufacturers.

I just picked up The North Face again under their "continued excellence" program. I was sponsored by them years ago, for skiing. I re-applied last year under this program and was accepted because I am still in the public eye and still in a position to educate folks about their products. It is not the same level of sponsorship that I had when skiing but they are providing me with all my CAST clothing and a few key pieces for fishing.

Other members are fine examples like fishchris. His new boat is beautiful and was a good move IMO to sponsor him. He has more sponsors too, just saying.  

Doesn't hurt to ask if you think you can assist the manufacturer in promoting their product(s).

Also, for those looking for sponsors and DO compete, think outside of the box.  Equiptment manufacturers are not the only approachable people.  a friend of mine just got a call back from a certain energy bar company that wants to work with him.  Travel agencies that specialize in Sportsman type trips, food and drink companies, utility companies that are on an environmental campaign,etc.  all examples of approachable people.

You ever noticed no one is sponsored by Marlboro or anything like that? BASS doesnt allow it. They actually had kittens about Quinns' Evan Williams sponsorship. They didnt want to promote adult products, ironically as Busch is a huge sponsor for them.

There is a huge adult entertainment (strip club) down here called Rachels. Its a high class joint with Steak house..kind of place that has Bentleys, Ferarris, etc in front on Friday night. I talked to someone about getting them to do sponsorship for fisherman down here and it was clearly pointed out that most tournament circuits/associations would not allow it (this included Saltwater).

So apparently they are very particular about who you can and cannot have as a sponsor on tour. I dont think we will ever see a Target sposnored fisherman in an FLW tour.

Do you guys remember the movie, The Bad News Bears, where they were sponsored by a bail bonds company?

I still think that was a great sponsor and I wanted to pay for my son's soccer team's shirts if we could put a fictious bail bonds company on them as their sponsor.

But the team turned me down.  It seems most of them already knew bail bondsmen or attorneys!

What is this world coming to if you can't even get sponsored by a strip club?? My only question is;

What were they going to do for you ---

1. No Cover Charge?

2. Free Drinks?

3. Free Lap Dances?

4. Free Valet Parking for your Truck and Boat?

5. (My Favorite) Having a stripper be your co-angler?

HMMMM--Question Of The Day--Does a surgically enhanced stripper need a life jacket or if they fell overboard --will they float??

It could get very interesting. If I had a strip club as a sponsor, I would soon need a divorce attorney as a sponsor.  8-)

Oh see its all strategic planning. You swoop into the hottest fishing hole with a couple of these naked hotties on the boat. They do their little show on the back of the boat...distracting all of the other anglers. Meanwhile, your catching fish (no pun intended)  ;D ;D ;D
