Jarodgb Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I finally made it guys; I just completed my Masters in Education and am now ready to fish at the next level. I was looking for a little advice before I add my name to the list of anglers seeking sponsorship. Listed in order is a timeline of what I have done up to this point. 1. Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant, 4 years. 2. Completion of Associates Degree from The University of Maryland 3. Completion of Bachelors Degree from CSU Stanislaus in Physical Education 4. Completion of teaching credential from National University. 5. Currently a fifth year Physical Education teacher grades 6, 7, and 8. 6. Founded a school fishing club, currently going on our fourth year. Last year, one of our members was featured in Bassmaster Magazine (July). 7. Weekly fishing Columnist for six local newspapers, currently on my second year. 8. Completion of Masters Degree from National University in Education. 9. Current member of FLW, B.A.S.S., and Anglers Choice. I've had other odd jobs while in college, mostly labor related jobs that I'm not sure would be of any significance. I'm hoping to put together a professional resume and was just looking for a little feedback. I've been fishing all of my life and like most always wanted to some day fish at the professional level. Super User Sam Posted February 4, 2007 Super User Posted February 4, 2007 Congratulations on your advanced degree. You did "good." Now, to start making those big bucks in the education field and start your pro fishing career. May I suggest taking a few hours and scroll down the topics in this section and read the questions and answers. You will find so much information and answers to questions you have not thought of answering that you could have a college level semester class. I know you started your own bass club, but are you a member of the FLW, B.A.S.S. or the Maryland Federation? Does your club allow you to move up in the rankings and fish the six (6) man tournaments and then move up to the state finals? Then, of course, you wil need sponsors to help finance your efforts. By fishing in the state tournaments you can show businesses that you are a very strong bass fisherman and you can help them advertise and sell their products, both related to and unrelated to fishing. This will be your challenge unless you have a lot of money. Good luck to you and hopefully you will move up the fishing ladder of success in both FLW and B.A.S.S. and we can follow your career in Bassmaster Magazine, Bass Times and the FLW Magazine. Quote
Jarodgb Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 Sam, Thanks for the response, our club is a school club which I teach after school. I'm currently scrolling through the various post as you requested. Thanks Again, Jarod Quote
