Why are you so desperate to get a sponser, you have posted in the past "If any one knows of a pro-staff position let me know."  Getting a sponser doesn't make you a better fisherman.  If you only want free lures thats one thing, but when a company sponsers you they want to be benefitted too.

fishinfrenzy, that is perfect.  You said something that is polite and not an arguement starter, but you made your point.  And the point you made was awesome

Senko77 thanks.  BTW hows your company doing?  Are a lot of people from the forum and elsewhere buying your plastics.  Do you have a website yet, if not can you PM with prices and info.

What does TJBA stand for? I can't seem to find it when I google it. Why are they holding a Tournament on the 19th of April? That was a Wednesday.

I am new to the site but I saw this one and had to respond. I am from Texas and I think TJBA stands for Texas Junior Bassmasters Assosiation. But I checked their website and there is no record of a tournament on April 19th of this year. There isn't a tournament on Lake Conroe untill July. I can't find this kids name on any of there registration rosters.

Look kid. Just a bit of advise. If you want to have any job much less a sponsorship you need to be honest on your resume. This is called fraud. You try to say you are a Christian you should know that one of the Ten Commandments says Thou shalt not bare false witness.

I think you crashed his party..... ;D

correction: it should have said april 29th

TJBA stands for Texas Jr. Bass Association. the reson you can't find them is because they are a small orginization started by me and my fishing partner and my friend Jonathan Capps. it was started so us and our friends could fish in an orginized tournament and also to encourage kids to stat fishing. we have met a lot of kids who never get outside and we wanted them to get outside and go fishing!!  :)

sorry about the misunderstanding.

Tight lines and God bless,

Ike, that sounds like a great idea. I'm going try that here where I live.

What are the details?

How did you contact the kids that needed it?

I know Lake Conroe is pretty big. How did you get boats for them?

How many tournaments have you had and how many participants were there?

How did you supply them with gear or was it a snoopy rod round-up?

How did you cover the insurance?

How did you teach them how to bass fish so quickly?

Was there a local bass club that sponsored you so you could have enough boats and experienced anglers?

Was it like a CAST For Kids event or was it an actual tournament?

That's quite a feat for a 14 year old to pull off. I'm impressed.

P.S. You might want to clearify what TJBA stands for in you resume.

Oh yea, I am still waiting for you to return my PM. I would like to get that letter out as soon as possible.

LOTS OF QUESTIONS!!!!!! :o

we had our friends invite their non-fishing friends and we invited our non-fishing friends.

most of our friends parents had boats. and some rented boats etc.

this is our first tournament. we would have had more but we had people cancel at the last minuite for an unknown reason.   We had 16 kids at this one.

we had sponsors (FOR WHICH WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL!!!!) that donated gear for the participants. they are:

American Rodsmiths, Gary Yammamoto, Bill Lewis Lures, Wave Industries, Eagle Claw, Kickerfish Bait co.

Terminator, Peach Sighn Co., Honor Trophies.

what do you mean by insurance?

we had the novices with our fishing friends and their dad.

no. we were not able to have a bass club. but i wish we did.

it was an actual tournament.

thank-you. but i could not have done it without the help of my friends: Truett Whitt (who helped me with the planning and calling sponsors.) Jonathan Capps. (who helped with the rules and planning.) Alex Nelson (who helped me with the rules) Andrew Nelson (my friend who is 28 years old used to go to school to be a Texas Parks & Wildelife Dept. game warden), and he was the tournament official. he also helped with the planning and rule making. But we could not have done this without the help of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ. All the glory belongs to him. :)

Thanks agian to all our sponors and to everyone who made this event possible.

if you would like to call me to ask more quetsions please PM me.

P.S. we are planning one for June 24th on Sheldon Resivoir (near Houston) no motors over 10 horsepower are allowed (lake specifications) if anyone would like some info please PM me.

I find it hard to believe that those sites in your signature actually are your sponsors I just don't see how a kid your age with little experience whose only looking for free products can get a sponsor, much less gambler lures?

All I know is I am only 14, but theres no rush into getting sponsors and such. Take time to embrace the sport of bass fishing and learn from tournys rather than just entering one so you can put it on your "resume"

I have to speak up after reading this thread:

Why do some want to cast aspersions and argue - are you who are questioning, able to provide this young fellow with some form of sponsorship? If not, why are you responding at all? I think his initial post said "Dear potential sponsor", not dear potential critic.

As for donated baits and such: it is common practice for companies to donate to tournaments, club functions, etc. That does not make them a sponsor, but a 1 time donator to a specific situation. All I saw was a thank-you for the donations, not some attempt to depict them as a sponsor for the young man's personal use.
