bassin_man Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 When you send your resume to a sponsor, and you can't walk right in and "sell" yourself that way, what is the best approach? Sending it by e-mail or regular mail? If by regular mail do you put a letter along with it or just your resume in an envelope? If you send it in once and get turned down do you try sending in again at a later time or is it a one time deal mainly? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 You gotta win alot of points andmove through the ranks tillyou're at least at the regional level before they will even bother with you. Even then, regionally, you gotta be a forerunner to see anything significant and believe me,...it ain't free, lol. You'll work more hours than the equivelant if you just bought the stuff. I'm assuming you are talking about national sponsors. Insurance companies, local businesses, that's different, just ask. Quote
bassin_man Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Figured I would start local and then maybe work my way up if do good enough and move up in the ranks. Quote

I'm assuming you are talking about national sponsors. Insurance companies, local businesses, that's different, just ask. This is so true, even for local team events. We have a guy in NBAA who fished enough tournaments with different partners that he won AOY individual points....out of 2000+ anglers. With that, he was able to pick up a few National Sponsors. My teammate and I are trying to do the samething, but for a TEAM sponsorship contract. We have been with this organization now for 5 years and have moved up from the bottom of the barrel so to speak, to the top 10 in the top 250 teams in the Northern region alone. We have slowly started to pick up some sponsorships, but are ready to sign contracts for monetary sponsorships to help with the 30+ team tournaments that we fish. It has been a long and slow learning game, but have enjoyed playing it and will always enjoy it...even if we NEVER get the big shot. Quote
