bassnleo Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 After reading some of the young lads other posts I was kind of thinking the same thing. Gotta love the enthusiasm though............ Quote
earthworm77 Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 Guy's I own a tackle company and have operated it and watched it grow for the last 10 years. I've been very successful and I get a ton of sponsorship requests. I hate to put anyone down but understand, just because you have a rod and a reel, can cast and occassionally catch a fish or even win a tournament, this does not qualify you to earn any sponsorship. The word is EARN. Why do you think you have any shot at getting sponsored when there are literally 100's of thousands of bass anglers out there who are likely more skilled, can write a better resume, have more accolades etc.? I'm not trying to bash anyone but these "anyone know where I can get sponsored" posts are ridiculous. I currently have 10 sponsors, ranging from rods to baits to clothing. I gained each of them the old fashioned way......I worked for them, sent resumes, actually used the products etc. I suggest to those of you who think you are ready for a sponsorship deal to actually work at it rather than think someone here will guide you to it or give you a freebie. Super User Gatorbassman Posted May 20, 2006 Super User Posted May 20, 2006 There are a couple of posts I think you should reed first. https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1143220947 https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1124747048 Quote
Triton_Mike Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 In addition to what Earthworm said you don't go blindly asking for sponsorships on a public message forum. I personally WILL NOT post a thread on a msg board blindly asking for sponsorhip especially from a company that I have never used their products. If I use their baits/products and have confidence I will approach that sponsor and submit my resume' to them for their review and let them know what I can do for them to help their sales. By blindly asking for sponsors it makes it seem like your only objective is to get free baits and from a company you probably have never even used thier products before. Having said that I make it a policy NEVER to accept sponsorship from a company that I have not actually used their products. Your credibility is shot if you take on every and any company that offers you a sponsorship deal. My advice is to take a look at what fishing equipment you have confidence in and that you use on almost every trip and then approach those companies. But before I did that I'd reread what Earthworm said in his post above as he is SPOT ON in what he said in his post. What seperates you from the other 100's of thousands of other anglers and ask yourself why should any company put you on thier prostaff?? I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here but trying to let everyone know how things tend to work. Mike Bucca Here is a list of my sponsors. I use their products everyday that I am out on the water and I have 1000% confidence in their products as being the best of the best IMHO. fishingrulz Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 little off topic but triton mike what i noticed one of your sponsers is Hamby's Beaching Bumper. what is that exactly? Quote
Triton_Mike Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Hamby's beaching bumper is probably the most mandatory thing you need on a boat but isn't mandatory. Go here for an edumacation (misspelled on purpose LOL) on beaching bumpers. www.hambys.com Look at the very short video on the left hand side. I can pull my fiberglass boat up onto the concrete ramp with no scratches Great product!! T Mike Quote
fishingrulz Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 ahhh right i didn't think it had to do with rods, reels or baits lol Quote
Darold_31 Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I'm a Hamby man myself Mike. I'm not on the pro-staff, but maybe one day. They really do make a great product and I can't see my self without it. It saves on alot of carpet messes. Picking your partner up at the launch is a breeze, no worry about getting beached too well. They seem like a good company to be associated with. Where ya from Mike?
