Nick_Barr Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 THIS IS THE RESUME I SENT TO LAMIGLAS, i am now sponsored by lamiglas, i know its pretty long, but give it an honest review. THANKS!! Nick Barr daddiocoolcat@hotmail.com Hi, My name is Nick Barr and I reside in Lacey, Washington and am a Honor Roll 8th Grader (14 Years Old) at Komachin Middle School and currently pursuing a career in professional bass fishing. I am inquiring about a Staff position with Lamiglas Rods. Bio- I was born August 4th, 1991 in Olympia, Washington. My family has no history of fishing and I have taught myself the art of bass fishing with the help of other Capital City Bass Club members. I have seriously been bass fishing for 2 years now and started fishing tournaments this year with good success. I fish as many tournaments as I can and fish at least 3 times a week. I fish as a Non-Boater in tournaments, which I think is a great advertising opportunity, and in my free time I fish out of a 12-foot aluminum boat, which I recently converted to a bass boat and put a 5 horse motor on the back. I joined the Capital City Bass Club a year ago and I am the founder and president of the Capital City JR. Bass Club. All my fishing is currently paid for out of my paper route money. I am proudly sponsored by Outdoor Emporium in Seattle, WA. McCoy Fishing Line out of Lake Havasu City, AZ. FishHedz from Middletown, CA. KGM Baits in Federal Way, WA. Quickdrops Dropshot Sinkers from Stillecoom, WA. And Ghost Baits from Voldasta, GA. One thing I feel that is essential for me to work with any sponsor is the absolute belief in your product. Product knowledge is paramount to my success both on the water and representing your company. I can confidently provide Promotion, Professionalism, Product Ideas, Enthusiasm, and Representation of what Lamiglas is all about. I truly know that I will be an asset to Lamiglas Rods and its Fishing Team. I have an extensive background in marketing and advertising, as my mother is the marketing teacher at Timberline High School, which I will be attending in 2007. Also, my father was a marketing teacher for 11 years. On my own I have studied marketing and last year took a test on these skills against high schoolers and finished 8th in the state. I also believe that a paramount to my success is community involvement, I do community service projects monthly and help plan ramp clean-ups and help out underprivileged youth. I am outgoing and confident in my public speaking ability and skill to move product. I often travel to state tournaments, Sportsmans Shows, and many other outdoor oriented events. I do all these things while I proudly wear and promote my sponsors proudly. Memberships: FLW Outdoors North American Fishing Club Bass Anglers Sportsman Society B.A.S.S. crankin_king Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I think it looks great by the way haveyou ever been on the NAFC bulletin board Quote
topwtr81 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 very well done nick and I don't think it's too long it worked right? the only thing i'd do to refine it would be to take the personal stuff about noone in my family fishing I'd put that in a form of an introduction letter and format the rest as a resume' just so you understand what I mean make it two page's one being about yourself and your passion and one being the actual resume'(which is strong for your age) Good luck you are heading the right direction Quote
JT Bagwell Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Your resume is pretty good for your age. My only concern is that you are only 14 years old and you just placed your name and home address on the internet for millions of people to see. I would like to suggest to the moderator or you Nick, that you delete your address from here. If you watched Dateline you would see what I am talking about. There are way to many sick people out there that are praying on kids. JT Bagwell Quote
FutureClassicChamp Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 one other thing Nick....i would have a separate email address for just fishing related stuff. something a bit more professional than daddio cool cat. like your name...@yahoo or hotmail. other than that, it look great. Quote
Nick_Barr Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 I Refined my resume a little bit Nick Barr daddiocoolcat@hotmail.com Hi, My name is Nick Barr and I reside in Lacey, Washington and am a Honor Roll 8th Grader (14 Years Old) at Komachin Middle School and currently pursuing a career in professional bass fishing. My family has no history of fishing and I have taught myself the art of bass fishing with the help of the internet, books, club members, and on-water experience. I am inquiring about a Staff position with Lamiglas Rods. Bio- I was born August 4th, 1991 in Olympia, Washington. I lived and grew up outside of Tenino, Washington on the shores of McIntosh Lake. squid Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Nick, It looks great, but I do have to agree on getting a new email address just for fishing related stuff. nickb91@somethingmail.something. Hey, atleast it is working for you now and your resume can only get better. Squid Quote
Marc Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Nick, It is looking pretty good. I think you received some great suggestions, and you would be wise to consider them. A couple of other minor points that go to "attention to detail". Correct spellings are: "QuickDrops" "Steilacoom" The other thing you should consider is clearly stating how you think you can help a particular company. You did mention your personal qualities, and your understanding of marketing, etc....but how will you directly help a company sell its products? That is what prostaffing is all about. For instance, state you would be available to help at shows; that you would write articles in your Jr. Club newsletter and mention their products by name; that you would wear their hats or embroidery on your tourney shirt at all tournaments; that you would help promote Lamiglas at the Jamboree (which they are a sponsor for), etc. Let them know that you frequent Xnumber of internet fishing sites on a regular basis, and will suggest their products to prospective buyers...you get the idea. Remember, it is all about what you can do for them; not what they can do for you. If you take care of them, trust that they will take care of you. ciao, Marc Quote
Triton_Mike Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Nick, Don't mind Marc. I can't even spell Steelacoon?? LOL T Mike Quote
Chris Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 So what did they give you? or is it still on going? :-? Quote

cabela10 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 ha ha ha...I've never even heard of LamiGlass. Is it a southern thing? I only hear about St. Croix and Kistlers up here in Minnesota/Wisconsin. Quote
FutureClassicChamp Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 in Minn/Wis Lamiglas is the top non-custom rod in the musky market. you have to run into those guys on a daily basis up there. Quote
Top Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 ha ha ha...I've never even heard of LamiGlass. Is it a southern thing? I only hear about St. Croix and Kistlers up here in Minnesota/Wisconsin. I read somewhere that Lamiglas is where G Loomis worked before he decided to make his own company... Lamiglas are some GOOD rods and If I could get them @ 50% off I would. The average price for the ones I looked at are in the 150-200 range. and *clears throat" up here in Wisconin I use Falcon Lowrider and Gander Mountain Guide Series Rods.... if Parks Falls wasn't about 5 hours from me I would probably own a St Croix.. as they invited me to come up and check out their facility ( yes I know EVERYONE is invited that emails them, but it sounded good) and they have "factory seconds" at about 50% off... Nick_Barr Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 The G-loomis thing is true with Lamiglas. Lamiglas is on the columbia river in southern WA, G-Loomis is practically next-door neighbors to Lamiglas. Also, Lamiglas is a house-hold name all over the country in one type of fishing or another.
