Several weeks ago, I registered to fish in the Bassmaster Southern Open at Douglas Lake, TN as a co-angler. I got my tournament packet in the mail today. I'm so freakin' excited! I don't know how I'm going to make it until June.

I live about 15 mins from Douglas...Its a sweet lake. You should have a ball fishing it!

The tournament is 2-4 June. What kind of fishing should I expect that time of year?

It honestly depends. Douglas has two high class river systems feeding it that people love to run up and catch some HUGE smallies.  Others run it and flip the shallow trees and bushes and catch some good largemouths.  I imagine they should be on a good post spawn pattern and you'll find them on points and humps in the main lake (deep cranks, jigs, c-rigs).  There will be a good topwater bite too.  If the lake comes up like it looks like it may there will be plenty of vegetation to throw a frog.  Sorry to be so broad...  That lake has serious potential...There is just too many ways to really sit here and predict how they will be patterned.

Thanks. As a co-angler, I'll be going wherever my pro wants to go, and I'll adjust accordingly. I was just curious about the lake because I've never been there. Sounds like I need to be prepared for just about anything.

Today is the first day on this tournament... Let us know how you did. Its been taking some huge weights to win over there! I hope it keeps up!

I'm not there. I had a death in the family and had to go on emergency leave. I'm pretty bummed, especially since there's no refund for the entry fee.
