IntroC Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I know the 1.5 I have is silent. Not sure what the water clarity is where he is fishing but would also like to know. Also curious if they make a 1.5 that rattles? Anyone? Quote

Skeet22 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 The first day he threw primarily a 3/8 Spinnerbait. 2nd and 3rd day he was throwing a rattling 1.5 chart/black back banging it off stumps. I still cannot beleive what I witnessed over the course of three days. For the most part all the anglers in the tank pond were throwing some brand of square bills with the exception of Boyd who I was with, he was throwing a chatter bait with a Lake Fork magic shad trailer. he was working it more like a jig though just using the blade to get there attention.. Super User 5bass Posted February 21, 2011 Super User Posted February 21, 2011 During the presser KVD said that when he switched to the square bill on Saturday and figured out how the fish wanted it, he knew right then that he'd win. Quote
Bassnajr Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 They sold out at BPS.com and other places...... Quote

Tried the 2.5 and 1.5, they wanted the smaller bait more. Also said he put #2 KVD trebles on them. Quote
Hot Rod Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 After looking at all the new 2011 offerings by the bait companies, I had in my mind two or three "new" baits I wanted to buy to try this year. I'm not one just to go buy the new hot bait but I thought these were promising and filled a void in my tackle arsenal. Dang it if that KVD 1.5/2.5 wasnt two of the baits I wanted. I was going to get each in two colors: sexy shad and chart/black back. Now it looks like just about everyone will be slinging one of 'em this spring. So much for good intentions Quote

This happens every year. 90% of the people running out to buy them will toss them for 15mins in the worng place, at the worng time and blame the lure. Keep your eyes on the flea market in the next 3 months. Quote

SmallieNH Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 kvd 1.5 is rattling or silent and what water clarity there? The ESPN story said "He used a chartreuse, black back color in the dirty water". Quote
paulmandude Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 with rattles, just check out basspro Quote
Flukeman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I was surprised to find the chartreuse/black back did not come with a rattle in the 1.5 size. I would have thought if you needed the color for murky water, it would have had the rattles too. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Hit BPS in Bolingbrook, IL for the classic and Cabelas in Hammond, IN for there version of the classic this weekend and both were sold out of the KVD 1.5 & 2.5 in almost all colors. Cabelas had 3 left on the shelves and BPS had 2 left. Quote
bpNClgmouth Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 What's funnier is that Martens was using one and he did all he could to hide it from the camera since he's not sponsored by them. Later he said "I can't say what I used, but Kevin would have been proud".... Quote

Later he said "I can't say what I used, but Kevin would have been proud".... He was just doing what he could to try and win! You notice the pro's rarely say what they caught fish on they just say I was throwing a ..... or I threw ..... no where did they say they caught fish on it Quote
