Super User burleytog Posted January 26, 2007 Super User Posted January 26, 2007 Started off last year with 2 or 3 3600 boxes of tackle and a Plano Magnum full of hard baits. Now I've got 7 3700 boxes full of stuff and I'm still looking for more storage. I've went through 3 tackle bags and 12 3600 boxes in the last year trying to get just the right amount of storage. I had hoped that changing to the 3700's would help out, but that wasn't the case. Bag can't hold anything more and I've got more stuff that needs to go in there. I'm terribly terribly sick. :-[ Quote
Supermat Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Man oh man, you just need perspective! There are tackle ho's on here with 10, 20, or 30 times the stuff you've got... and they probably fish less too! I feel the same way as you sometimes but I was at a buddies house the other day and he said we'd need to take my boat as his was under a pile of junk right now. I walked into his garage and wouldn't you know it there were no less than 20 boxes, rods, terminal tackle, line spools, etc... on the decks plus another 50 boxes and dozen or two rods leaned up on the boat! He couldn't even fish out of his boat it was so buried in tackle. Needless to say, I felt better about my habit. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 26, 2007 Super User Posted January 26, 2007 Bag can't hold anything more and I've got more stuff that needs to go in there. Get LARGER bag. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Bag can't hold anything more and I've got more stuff that needs to go in there. Get LARGER bag or boat. I fixed it for you Raul. I've actually reduced my tackle by 20-25%. Now I am down to just what I use all the time Quote
BassBeat101 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I actually organized my lures last evening - quite a sight I must say, as my parents' family room was covered in ZOOM, Kinami, and BPS products. My mom commented that my tackleboxes (which through the years have progressed from small to medium to a couple of larges) are more like Fishing Nesting dolls than anything else. I need to make a pegboard like they had in BassMaster a month or two ago, that would help me out quite a bit. Daryl Quote
Gorgebassman Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Dont feel to bad burley I have a friend I used to fish tournaments with he had a large storage unit that was so full of fishing gear that when he needed to find something he had to unpack his storage unit to get at anything. Now he had a real sickness. Quote
squid Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I DONATED HALF MY FISHING STUFF....BAIT, REEL, RODS....ETC..ETC.. AND MY WIFE STILL SAYS I HAVE TO MUCH AROUND THE HOUSE AND GARAGE. WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS TO TELL ME THIS? I DON'T THINK I HAVE THAT BIG OF A PROBLEM WITH IT..LOL...I ONLY BUY WHAT I CAN AFFORD...LOL..EVERY SEASON.. :-/ I NEED HELP....LOL Quote
The_Natural Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 The great thing about 3700's and a bag that holds them, is that you can just select the boxes you are going to use for that particular trip. I have two bags that hold 8 3700's each, but I only take one bag with me. I keep dozens of 3700's in my Tackle room, and just rotate them in and out of the bag. Quote
squid Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 OMG....YOU HAVE A TACKLE ROOM?....YOU ARE MY HERO...DO YOU LIVE ALONE? 8-) Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 26, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 26, 2007 Bag can't hold anything more and I've got more stuff that needs to go in there. Get LARGER bag. I actually just bought a larger bag. It is as big as I want to carry. I'm just going to have to decide what I am going to use on that particular day and take only that. Hell, I only use about 20% of what I take with me on any given day. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 26, 2007 Super User Posted January 26, 2007 You must switch baits quite oftleny to uso 20% of what you carry, me ? well there I am, me, my rods n 'reels and a monster ammount of tackle just to discover that at the end of the day I fished with two crankbaits, a spinnerbait and 8 or 9 worms. :-/ Ah but carrying all the stuff sure makes me feel dressed to kill. ;D Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 27, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 27, 2007 Just pulled that number of my... Probably closer to 2%. ;D Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 27, 2007 Super User Posted January 27, 2007 7 3700 boxes is that all? At 6' my spare 3700 boxes are eye level with me and that does not even count what I have still in the original packages? Yes, I know that I have a tackle problem but I am working on it and as long as I sell more tackle than I buy I am making progress. Honestly the last time I counted I had 43 "spare" LC baits still in the package? :-X This is not counting all the other high-end baits. Feel proud my friend as people like you and I are what make the bass fishing industry thrive! If we did not buy tons of baits that we do not need there would be no innovation or sponsorships for professional anglers so Ike and KVD should thank us for supporting them. Allen Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 27, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 27, 2007 7 3700's full. I've got 12 or 13 3600's with odds and ends in them. A few are empty after I did a re-org last night. I'm waiting with great anticipation for my thank-you letters from KVD and Roland Martin. ;D Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 27, 2007 Super User Posted January 27, 2007 Burley, What's the problem? I think your situation is that of a very good fisherman. Carry on and may the Bait Monkey be your best friend! Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 27, 2007 Super User Posted January 27, 2007 I'm waiting with great anticipation for my thank-you letters from KVD and Roland Martin. ;D Ungrateful scoundrels aren't they? Allen Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 27, 2007 Super User Posted January 27, 2007 Well I see the profanity filter is working well? Allen Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 27, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 27, 2007 You're telling me. I buy KVD's books and baits and no letter. Roland tells me that Spro baits, Megastrike, Smart Shield, GYBC, and BPS fishing shirts are good, so I buy them. No letter. :'( ;D Quote
sodaksker Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I found myself falling into this awful trap by the "b" monkey, then not all that long ago I read a post by our own "roadwarrior" who said, " I only buy new baits that come highly recommended by members on this site..." I have since done my best to employ this method and condense my 5 bags of tackle into 1 "main" bag full of the top shelf stuff. It is a battle but, one worth fighting. Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Since when did too much tackle become a problem? :-? Raul, you ever hear of such a thing? Brad Quote
Super User Alpster Posted January 27, 2007 Super User Posted January 27, 2007 Hello, my name is Ronnie and I'm a tackleholic........ I just came from Walmart with my daughter. I picked up 4 Mann's -1 s and a spool of Power Pro. I didn't have to have them, it was just really nice, you know what I mean... ;D Ronnie Quote
