Md Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Anyone else trying to watch day three of the Classic? Drag racing....WTH!!! It just shows what ESPN really thinks about us. First they put it on at 10:00, then they bump it 15 minutes for drag racing. I hope Jerry and the boys change something soon! Quote
bmadd Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 All the times have been slightly off on ESPN2 today due to a basketball game than ran over. Day 2 coverage started about 5-10 minutes late earlier today as well. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Yeah. That was incredibly irritating. The Classic coverage did run over as well so it all worked out in the end. Quote
IntroC Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Yeah. That was incredibly irritating. The Classic coverage did run over as well so it all worked out in the end. Not really. I DVR'ed it and missed the most important part, the final weigh in. That really sucks. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted February 28, 2011 Super User Posted February 28, 2011 It would have been nice of the ticker going by on ESPN 2 during final weigh-in actually said Bassmaster will be delayed, X amount of time. Also, they could have cut away from drag racing coverage since the results were in and it would not have effected coverage of that event. With all that said ESPN is still a flagship for SPORTS, not Versus, not Outdoor Channel! Quote

I totally agree and I think they did a fine job with the coverage...but it wouldn't have killed them to bump it up to 9 p.m. Also, they knew in advance that they were running behind, they could have aired the beginning on one of their other 10 channels. In a week's time I watch far more Versus than all three ESPN channels combined! The Outdoor Channel isn't even an option for me. Quote

On average I would too, but some if not most cable/satellite has Versus, Outdoor Channel, etc. as options, ESPN comes with most basic programming. So if you want the largest available audience then ESPN it is. I would even choose a major network such as ABC, CBS, or NBC to carry the Bassmaster Classic before some niche outdoor channel. More people fish or can relate to fishing more than many other sports so you need to appeal to the largest possible audience and not go small niche. Remember we are already a captive audience, but to capture more you need to make those on the fringe or the mainstream aware of your product, B.A.S.S. Quote
