Super User Tin Posted February 16, 2011 Super User Posted February 16, 2011 They are using radar at the Classic? Health Concerns? Quote
b.Lee Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I think the more immediate concern would be crashing. Quote
BassChaser57 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 They are using radar at the Classic? Health Concerns? I am not sure what you are referring to about them using radar but a radar on an aircraft is safe beyond about 50yards. We get bombarded with radar beams by aircraft all day long and I have never heard of a pilot having any health problems from being exposed. Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 16, 2011 Author Super User Posted February 16, 2011 There is a pic of Skeet Reese with the giant bubble about the height of his engine. Quote

Hot Rod Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 The article on BM.com says it emits 1/10 the radiation of a cell phone and the sales rep said the unit is "huggable". Doesn't sound like its a health issue. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted February 17, 2011 Super User Posted February 17, 2011 With the fog that is forecasted each morning, radar is a good idea. However, regardless of the technology, it's not infallible. I hope the anglers operate at a safe speed in the reduced visibility, with or without radar. If not, bad things could happen. A-Jay Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted February 17, 2011 Super User Posted February 17, 2011 How'd I miss this thread? I posted something else in the general area just a few minutes ago. Bottom line? Somebody is going to get hurt if they think they can run a plane through a blinding fog. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted February 17, 2011 Super User Posted February 17, 2011 ROLF when I saw those radars on a BASS BOAT! I can understand if you are open water fishing and need the radar to see where other boats/ships are and possibly spot some birds to locate bait balls, but come on Bayou navigation in the fog? I think it is a marketing ploy by the radar makers to get their product in front of a people. Too funny! Quote
Five-Alive Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I agree with Lund Explorer .......... placing your faith in radar to run on plane will lead to bad things!! Quote
Five-Alive Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I should amend that post to say to run on plane in the FOG will lead to bad things! Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 18, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 18, 2011 Ike has it too. We have pictures and video of them here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1297902449 Quote

bigbassctchr101 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 These radars could see bouys and birds more than 100ft in front of them. Thats pretty impressive. Still not safe to run 70+ and driving blind. IMO But, IF i was going to be making that 125 mile run, I'd feel 95% more confident with this thing hooked up to my GPS. Quote
