Ima Bass Ninja Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 So what new lure or technique or old lure and technique do you think KVD will make famous in 2011? I think this year will be swimbaits. He's always been known for spinner baits, 2010 was crank baits(lipless all the way to deep divers), and he's made the sexy shad probably the best known color pattern in today's time. So what tricks do you think the best angler of recent times has in store for us in 2011? Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 I actually think that he'll win with that stupid swimbait. Which one? I don't follow along with these guys all that much... Quote
FL_Sharpshooter Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 He'll probably just stick to cranks, he seems to be pretty hooked on those. Quote
jdw174 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I don't see him giving up on cranks if conditions will allow them. Of course if he has to flip, etc.,............... Quote
boneil Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I don't see him giving up on cranks if conditions will allow them. Of course if he has to flip, etc.,............... has he ever flipped? I think that if he did give up on cranks for a tournament, people might think he was sick or something. Quote

River_angler Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 He's going to use the square bills a lot this year. Quote

I don't think there's a segment of fishing techniques that he can't do......if he has to. Quote

Morelures Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I think he will throw some kind of deep diving crank that is not out yet. Strike king will release the bait very soon, but not in the color he plans on using. That way everyone will go out buy the lure in all the colors he didn't use, and once the hype settles down they will release the winning color (Just like last year). But who knows what Strike King has up there sleeves. All I can say is I will not get the "Classic Bug" this year and go purchase 1,000 of the winning bait, like I did last year with the Red-Eye shad! Ah then again I probably will, there's always a need for "Morelures". Quote
booyahfish Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 he has been pretty big on the squar bills and deep crank baits pretty hard Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted January 12, 2011 Super User Posted January 12, 2011 One thing is for sure, he will figure out what it takes to get bit, and whatever that is he will use to win a bunch of dollars. His versatility, ability to read water, and his ability to adapt hour to hour is what makes him great. Regardless of the type of lure. Quote

His versatility, ability to read water, and his ability to adapt hour to hour is what makes him great. Regardless of the type of lure. I agree. But whatever he chooses to catch fish on will see a spike in sales. He could win a tourny with a helicopter lure or banjo minnow and the next day they would sell a million with them. I'm just wondering if he will make a new lure famous or an old lure more famous. Quote

TimJ Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 there is an existing thread about versatility... "however... knowing him he will spend all year trying to master his "weakness" and throw a swimbait in every tourney. probably win again too......" that's how one becomes versatile! lol TJ Quote
