SudoomFisher Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Hi, just started fishing regularly this year and live in CT. I regularly fish a reservoir/lake but all the good spots seemed to be covered with pads up top and weeds underneath. Im getting frustrated because I've tried every presentation with different rigs that are all supposed to be weedless from texas rigged worms to buzzbaits but even if it the slopp isnt hooked it still wraps around the line. Is this normal or am I doin something wrong. Also do you guys have luck with frogs even when their arent any naturally in the area? Quote
Infidel. Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Frogs will work. The fact that there doesn't seem to be any around there wont stop them. I don't think a bass sees the bait as just a frog, they see it as something alive that they can get to and eat. Good luck Quote

It's hard to imagine what you could be doing wrong, except maybe you're not keeping your line high enough to avoid the stuff wrapping around the line. Do you know what kind of weed this is? Frogs or other creatures will work where none of the real things exist. Quote
CRFisher Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Frogs, hollow bodied floaters and swim/buzz frogs should be OK, a Johnsons Silver Minnow or similar spoon should work OK too if tipped with a trailer and fished topwater. Quote
Bass XL Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Also do you guys have luck with frogs even when their arent any naturally in the area? YES, YES, YES, YES, AND YES!!!!! Use a Spro Bronzeye frog. My top two colors are Albino and Green Tree. Quote
tyrius. Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Also do you guys have luck with frogs even when their arent any naturally in the area? Bass aren't picky. If it's moving and they can get to it, they'll eat it. They'll hit trout lures where there are no trout, lizards where there are no lizards, etc, etc, etc. Quote
