Captain Obvious Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Do you realize that if Martin qualifies for the Classic we would be seeing the top three bass pros of all time fishing against each other. How cool is that it be like seeing Magic, Jordan, and Bill Russell all playing against each other in a one on one game. Of course Clunn and Martin are way past their prime while KVD is right in the middle of his but still a large part of bassfishing history was made by these guys and it be a great thing to see. I'd like to here what you guys think about it. Quote
Hot Rod Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Huh? Did Roland come out of retirement? :-? Quote
BigEbass Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 That would be interesting and cool to watch...but just like in the masters, when they have the old timers come back and play, they always (well not always) get left behind for the most part, but its always fun to watch....but perhaps fishing is totally different...if one of those old savy guys get in the zone, watch out - who knows..but the younger guys like KVD are just fishing more in the competitive setting, more up to speed with new insights and technology...much more likely to win I would imagine - who knows though Quote

He sure did - check it out ~ http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/opens/news/story?page=b_opens_Roland_Martin_Returns I am looking forward to him showing off some of the flashes of angling brilliance he was so famous for back in the day. A-Jay Cool! Thanks for the heads up AJ. I found the last paragraph of that article interesting: "Fans interested in having a chance to fish with one of the all-time greats should consider signing up as co-anglers for the Bassmaster Opens. Registration for individual tournaments begins Dec. 14 at 9 a.m. ET. Registration for the full season is already underway. Sign up here or call 1-877-BASS-USA." Wonder if Jerry Mc is encouraging old Roland to compete in order to boost tourney participation? : In any event, its great to see such an icon back in action regardless of how high he places. Good luck Roland! Quote
