Super User 5bass Posted July 26, 2010 Author Super User Posted July 26, 2010 Tough day for Aaron Martens. He had 20# in the boat very early then started having livewell troubles almost immediately so he released some big, dying fish. At the weigh in he ended up taking a 1 pound 8 ounce penalty for dead fish. Yet another tournament that Martens had in his pocket, only to see it slip away. Russ Lane is only 5 points behind Skeet in the AOY points race. Quote

He is an awesome fisherman despite other actions. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 26, 2010 Super User Posted July 26, 2010 Wow, thats horrible for Martens. Probably felt like he got kicked in the wobbly bits. Heck, it probably still feels like that. What a bummer. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 26, 2010 Super User Posted July 26, 2010 VanDam has Reese just where he wants him. Quote
etommy28 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I got bad news for all of them, Russ lane has them where he wants them when the points came out, no one can possibly beat him even skeet if he is able to win next week. Quote
rowyourboat Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 VanDam has Reese just where he wants him. gotta agree lol Quote
Super User 5bass Posted July 26, 2010 Author Super User Posted July 26, 2010 If I was Skeet and I didnt win the AOY this year, I'd move to FLW just to prove a point. The AOY system that BASS has now is messed up. This will be 2 years in a row where Skeet should've been the AOY (via points at the end of the reg season) and he wont be. It's a shame too....Skeet was dominant this year. I'm not a big Skeet fan but I do call it like I see it. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 26, 2010 Super User Posted July 26, 2010 Agreed. I was reading an article on Bassmaster that said after last year he left the stage and just sat in his truck for a couple of hours with his head on the steering wheel. Can't really blame the guy. Quote

I would like to see the outcome if they awarded points in the post season like they did during the regular season to see what that outcome would be. Quote

If nothing else, he should have been given a far greater lead over the rest of the field; he's getting screwed if an entire season of dominance can be made up by one tourney with a mere 9 place differencial. A travesty if he loses it this year, and I too am not a big Skeet guy. Quote
Big Tom Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 You guys have already said it. It will be a shame is Skeet don't take this. This newer format is pretty stupid. If a guy dominates throughout the season, he should be AOY. Ain't that the point of AOY anyway. To give the title to the most consistent fisherman? It sure doesn't seem that way now. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted July 27, 2010 Author Super User Posted July 27, 2010 Next year it will be called the EOYA (End Of The Year Angler)...and BS should be worked in there somewhere. Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 28, 2010 Super User Posted July 28, 2010 Apparently Aaron thermal shocked his live well water by adding too much ice and his fish rolled over. Aaron is a phenomenal fisherman that does some bonehead things at times. WRB Quote
helms83 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I watched the weigh in live on the website for Day 2. Wait until you guys see what Lane had to go through. Mentors looked very bummed after he lost. It was tough to see. Quote
