littlefisher Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 My son and I are from Michigan and we are attending the Bassmasters Classic this year in Alabama. We will be there for 5 days. We are hoping to meet with some local bass fisherman. Bass Dad Quote
bighed Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 My 15 yo son and I will be there Fri-Sun I expect. If you'd like to meet up for a meal sometime over the weekend I'd be game. We're not local, actually from TX. Usually fish Fork, Texoma, Ray Roberts, and other shallow, cover filled lakes. Would love to talk bassin with someone who probably does it a lot different than we do. How old is you kid? Quote
littlefisher Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 My son is 21. My partner in NBAA That would be great. to meet. We went the Classic in Shreveport last year. We flew into Dallas and drove to Shreveport. Quote

powerman970 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I live in Birmingham and will be there on Saturday for weigh-in. I'd like to be there more but I will be fishing myself that Thursday, Friday, Saturday morning and again on Sunday on Bankhead Lake just west of B'ham. I will be fishing with one of the members of my site and meeting several others at the classic I hope. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 13, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 13, 2010 Ok, so that's one suggestion to keep in mind. Can anyone recommend a place for us to meet Saturday? It doesn't have to be BBQ. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 Me and a buddy will be there Saturday and Sunday......Saturday evening would be great, name the place and we'll be there. Quote
BigEbass Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Hey everyone - I live in Birmingham - when is the Clasic exactly? There are a ton of BBQ joints to choose from. My personal favorite is Green Top BBQ, it is in Jasper, AL though (about 40 minutes from birmingham). Dreamland down near UAB is good too. One of my favorite restaurants is "Pita Stop Cafe" - greek/lebanese - its really good and reasonable - otherwise Birmingham has a number of pretty descent chain type stuff including cheescake factor and PF changs. If you all will be in tuscaloosa though, they have some of the best diners with great southern cuisine Anyway, maybe I will go to the classic - I have never been to something like that - probably alot of things to do there? Have fun everyone - any questions for me, let me know. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 14, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 14, 2010 It's next weekend at the convention center/arena. Any good places near there? Walking distance, or a short car ride would be ideal. Quote
BigEbass Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 hmm, I think you are talking about the BJCC arena....it is downtown - my favorites in that area are dreamland if you want BBQ. There is also a Jim-n-nick's BBQ in 5-points (both short car ride). ALso as I said I like Pita stop cafe (also a fairly shor 4-5 min drive). Other than that, I dont eat very much in downtown, so some others may have more rec's - good luck! Quote
Dalton Tam Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I Hope to meet with you guys too. I was just wondering if you guys had picked a location yet? and if so could post it asap so that I can make plans to be there. Quote

I have not been there - I have lived here for 2 years and have not been to all restaurants by any means - but I googled it and got their address/number: 2321 4th Avenue North Birmingham, AL 35203-3803 (205) 254-9167 I love B-ham!! Oh yea, they still have a number of milos locations - one quite close to my house - I actually personally hate their burgers for some reason and the tea is too sweet (that is kinda impossible for most folks in alabama) Quote
