It's time for the Bassmaster Classic. Like Glenn, Gene and Ryan I get to ride along with Denny Brauer on the last day of practice. So if you could ask him a question what would that be? I myself have a few but I want to know what our members here at BassResource want to know.

Denny has established himself as one of the genuine superstars of the sport and I'm looking forward to spending some time with the great jig angler.

15 time winner on the BASS tournament trail, 1987 Angler of the year, 1998 Bassmaster Classic winner, qualified for the Classic 18 times. He's even been on the coveted Wheaties Box. He's also had two appearances on “Late Night With David Letterman”.

So let me know your question by posting it here or PM me and I'll put you on the list.

I'd ask him to take me deep water jig fishing on Table Rock lake.  8-)If that wasn't an option I would ask for a primer on jig fishing. He is the master...

Ask him what he does when he is fishing an area where a jig constantly is fouled by debris; muck from the bottom, grass etc.

also maybe go over how he deals with really thick wood cover. like multiple laydowns in a river or the like.

I would like to know his thoughts on advantages and disadvantages that anglers face with the classic being the first event for them of the year   How he prepares himself for it after being off a couple of months

I guess one disadvantage I would think would effect them would be when the classic was at the end of summer they have had the season to hone themselves  and are ready.  With the classic being the first event of the season and them being off for a couple of months it has to be harder to get up to speed

Would he ever think about coming to Florida or any other state and fish random lakes with random people? I think that would be a great tv show, just show up to Johns Lake or Lake Tarpon and take someone fishing. That would be a memory of a lifetime.

Is there one or two things that Mr Brauer ALWAYS did during a tournament when he first started out that he NEVER does now ?

And if so, what are they and what prompted him to change his ways ?

And I just thought of another one . . . .

Does Mr Brauer believe that in the near or even distant future, both men and women will be competing in the same Pro Bass Tournaments ?

Thanks

What is the biggest mistake most amateurs do when using a jig?

Of course D.B. is a role model, one of the greatest anglers, probably the best jig fisherman, and is a class act. There seems to about always a question on the forums about color --so--

1. What is the criteria he uses for color selection on a given lake?

2. What color does he start with and how does he make his choices?

3. What type line does he prefer when using a jig and why?

4. Most info says  99% of the bites with a jig come on the fall but D.B. won the tourneyment in New York a few years ago by soaking the jig. Was that a normal technique or because of an unusually slow bite?

Thanks for asking and I can't wait to see how your ride goes.

That's a good one.

How hard is it to put the jig down and pick up something else? And when do you know?
