Edro Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I plan on fishing the tournament on guntersville next month. I was wondering if any of you have fished in one of the Big Bass Splash tournaments before, and what your experience was? - Basically I am asking if it would be worth driving 8 hours to fish? Quote

I was wondering if any of you have fished in one of the Big Bass Splash tournaments before, and what your experience was? - Basically I am asking if it would be worth driving 8 hours to fish? I have fished several on Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend. I had a lot of fun and will be fishing them again. If I were able to drive to Guntersville I would drive there and fish it. Quote
Edro Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Wesley Thanks for the advice. I make the trip to guntersville about 3 times a year. So i figured why not schedule this trip for the tournament. Quote
Wesley Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Wesley Thanks for the advice. I make the trip to guntersville about 3 times a year. So i figured why not schedule this trip for the tournament. Take a Radio with you and be listening to the hourly weigh-in so you know what it takes to be in the money. If you catch a fish that you think MAY get money you want to run down close to the ramp and see whats brought in those last 15 mins. Dont be scared to hold your fish till the very end of the hour. I have been bumped out several times in just the last 2 or 3 mins. If you bring a fish in at the beginning of the hour then you are stuck there for the whole hour because most people wait till the last few mins to weigh in. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 8, 2010 Super User Posted February 8, 2010 Yes, I fish them to. Rayburn and Toledo are always fun. Get in line to launch early. Last year I got to the ramp at 4:30 and the line was 1/4 mile long. Carry a radio and enjoy. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 8, 2010 Super User Posted February 8, 2010 Playing the boards is key Quote
Edro Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Thanks for the advice guys. I have a couple question if you don't mind answering them. - Can you use any ramp on the lake? I take it you can use any ramp and don't have to take off at a certain time. They just announce when you can make your first cast on the radio. Am i correct on this? - When you register for the tournament can i pay my entry fee online? - Can i pick up the tournament package when i arrive at the lake like 3 days before? Sorry for all the questions just new to the whole game. Quote

Kenny418 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Edro, I am also fishing The Big Bass Splash in Guntersville. This will be my first. I just got off the phone with them. I asked all the same questions you did, then I logged on and found your post. I received all the same answers from them that are posted here. I just got back from a Bfl on Gunny. My buddy who is a guide down there talked my partner and I into coming back down for this. He said it is a blast. We will be going down on the 18th to start practice. We are driving from Cincinnati. So you won't be the only one driving along way to have fun. Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted February 15, 2010 Super User Posted February 15, 2010 Bob Sealy's crew will do boat inspections if you cash a check and possible polygraph. Make sure your KIll Switch works and attatch it before starting the boat, that means when you pull it, it dies ASAP. No beer cans in the boat at all. Have your life jackets, registration, fire exstinguisher, and any other state regs that are required and your fishing license. Don't forget to take the kids, Bob has one of the best family run tournaments in the industry. Kids div is for crappie, bass, catfish, and perch for both days till noon as well. Its already grown to $155,000.oo in cash and prizes. Our 3 in Texas pay nothing less than 400,000.oo with the winner walking with at least $100K payout to the winner. Good Luck! Quote
