rynobass Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I'm Looking into buying a Culling System. Which one should I buy? Quote
Jeremy D. Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Do a search, if I recall someone has ask a question like that. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted October 6, 2009 Super User Posted October 6, 2009 I still use the balance beam. It's worked for years for me and I just hate spending all that money for an upgrade. JMO. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I don't have one yet but I have heard alot of good things about the ardent set Quote
Surge489 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I have the ardent smart cull system and really like it. I got it because my other set (different brand) broke (2 of them). The ardent works really well and makes culling quick, especially when you're night fishing. It also seems to be well built with steel cables rather than the heavy duty mono looking stuff others use. Koop Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Here's another vote for the ardent smart cull. I love it. Quote
Chris W Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I have been using the X Tools since it came out and like it alot. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 11, 2009 Super User Posted October 11, 2009 I like the x tool scale, but the markers will come off a fish pretty easy. I replaced my clips with metal stringer types, they don't come off. I always forget the newest on the block, the Ardent system. Seems like the best and easiest out there. Lord knows, I spent enough on scales over the years and xtools weren't cheap. Was the price on the Ardent? Quote
central.PA.bass Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I use the Bag-em Bass tags.. i really like them alot.. and they are safe on the fish. you just clip them on their upper lip and are strong enough to stay on from morning until weigh in Quote

smlbass Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I use an X-Tools scale with Ardent Smart Cull Tags. Just dial in the weight on the ball and then compare scale to ball. The Ardent Smart Cull Tags rock. Quote
Five-Alive Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I have the ardent smart cull system and it works great, a bit pricey at $39.99 but I am not complaining. Quote
shimanogloomis man Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 ardent the way to go cause you can dial the weight in which is a nice feature Quote
b.Lee Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Do those balls float in the water? And do you just hook them in the lip with the clip? Seems a little mean. Quote
RockvilleMDAngler Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 The balls do float. I take the metal piece on the clip and slide it behind the gills of the fish then clip it shut, no puncturing the fish. Works great! Quote
b.Lee Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Hey thanks for the advice, yea, I was thinking how evasive that would have been if you had to hook each one Quote
CJ Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I know I'm chiming in late but here is my system. I have the Ardent smart cull for my tags. They are awesome! You just dial in their weight. The balls suspend and the numbers always face up. I use a XTools scales (thanks to my buddy Ryan), and I also keep balance beams on the boat as well. Quote
Dockhead Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Check out this system- cull-buddy.com This system looks pretty interesting. I love that it fits onto the livewell lid. Has anyone tried it? Quote
Mike O Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Need to look at Cul-M-Rite. Look at the new clips that do not poke holes 10 for about $45. Neat because they are legal in all states and they do not have the floats that fish stress frompulling around. They also have little loops at the end of the ropes that slide onto a balance beam in case your digital scales fail - Cooolll Mike O Quote
flipnpitch Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I was at Cabela's in Wheeling W.Va. yesterday and they had the Ardent Smart Cull for $34.99. Quote
