bass wrangler569 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 looks like he found significantly bigger fish than the other guys. I wonder if he had a kicker fish or if he found some better quality. Anybody know? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 31, 2009 Author Super User Posted July 31, 2009 If I'm mistaken, for give me. I believe FLW allowed them to go through more locks than the BASS boys did in 2005. I thought BASS put off limits after #3 lock, I think. It was said a few went a long ways and thats why there wasn't one update on Hackney and a few others. We'll get the stories after its over for sure. Quote
HPBB Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 yes, FLW is letting them lock up the Allegheny more than Bass did, It really wasn't BASS as much as it was Pa Fish and Boat commission rules. in 2005 the pool above lock 3 was a 15inch min pool so even if you caught fish that were legal in other pools (12 in min) you could not even have them in your live well when pass through pool 3. this shut off anybody from going up the Allegheny this is why BASS did not let them go up north. now that pool is a 12 inch min. however: FLW is not letting them lock down the Mon as much, only one lock and only to the mouth of the Yough river. really didn't understand that one :-/ FyI the mon has more LM than the other rivers. bassnleo Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Still a shootout at this point, quite exciting I must say. Yes, bigger fish are showing up. Hack had 2 fish over 3 lbs today. Just shows how different these rivers fish depending on conditions. GO DAVE! Quote
Super User Tin Posted August 1, 2009 Super User Posted August 1, 2009 This rising dirty water suits Hackney. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 1, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 1, 2009 6lbs 6oz leads it on day 3. Here's the story: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/flw-championship2-09.html How can Larry Nixon weigh in 2 bass weighing a total of 10oz? Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 2, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 2, 2009 He should have used Catch & Release. Smallies will shrink up in the livewell like that due to stress. That sucks. Quote

bassnleo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Leaving for Pittsburgh in an hour, headed down to the show and for the final weigh-in. Will try to grab a few photos. Gonna try to hook up with flyhatch (member here). Should be interesting to see what unfolds today. It's still anyone's ballgame. More to follow Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted August 2, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 2, 2009 I'm stoked for the final weigh-in. 3 BASS boys duking it out on the FLW. I hear the Hack is on the "attack". Got limit with 2 lb kicker. Ike got his 5 lb kicker, a catfish, you know that got his emotions flowing. Reported Ike's got 5 as well. Salewske is reported to have one. He's been consistent all 3 days with 5-6 lbs every day. Consistency wins. Nixon was true to his word, they said he threw big baits today. Not much on Dave L. today. I'm ready, anglers are off the water already, concert is going on, and then the weigh-in. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 2, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 2, 2009 Greg Hackney wins it! Mike Iaconelli follows in second, short by only 3 ounces. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 NICE...Those B.A.S.S. anglers put it too the FLW pros (Hackney #1 and Ike #2). Ike lost by just 3 ounces (his co-angler won the co-angler championship yesterday with 5 fish and Ike only had 4 yesterday. He could of used one of his co-anglers fish yesterday). Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 2, 2009 Author Super User Posted August 2, 2009 Congrats to Greg Hackney for a major milestone in his career. How about those Elites going one and two on FLW's grandiest stage? I thought the FLW put on a good show. Would love to have better footage of live coverage on the water. Quote
Big-O Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 He said he was throwin Spinnerbaits and jigs most of the time and that seems to suit him just fine Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
