Super User Muddy Posted February 24, 2009 Super User Posted February 24, 2009 I would love to fish with this guy! He certainly enjoys himself and knows what he is doing! And his name ends in a vowel 8-) Quote
Captain Obvious Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Ike's not just one off the best in the game, he is one of the smartest. Some may not like his screaming, but when you think about it whether you are saying "that guy is crazy" or "that guy is fun to watch" you'll remember him, and his sponsors, witch is exactly what he and his sponsors want. Ike is an angler that no matter what, I'm always looking in the standings. Good luck Ike, hope that you win it next year. Quote
Dave D Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I really enjoyed that interview! Thanks again guys for bringing it to us! Quote
NYfishwow Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 MIke IKE IS BEST BASS PRO OF ALL TIME! Quote
indy basser Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I am dying to get confirmation. Did Glenn actually SEE the laser lure in action. Either practice or competition or his he just blowing smoke. I love IKE but I realize he gets the marketing game. I could see him saying 1 thing and doing another to help the people who help him, but it seems to be truthful that he did use one. Quote
TheBeast Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 We will not get into an Ike bashing contest on this thread. If you don't know him personally you can't begin to understand him or his personality. Did I miss something, I haven't seen a negative word said in the whole thread???????? Well someone did call him Burley and that is just uncalled for to insult any human being like that. Good interview, I have always been an Ike fan. I liked that he didn't try and hide who he really is and make nice for the camera. Quote

The Ven Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Mike may end up being THE face of fishing this decade. KVD look out! Quote
The Ven Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 BTW... what happened to Tim Horton in the Classic? Did he quit after day 1? Quote
IdahoLunkerHunter Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 freakin' sweet! Awesome job Quote
zgonce Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 no he got food poisioning.... i think it might have been a few beers too many lol jk either way it sucked for me i had him on my fantasy team along with ike, aaron martens, my boy casey ashley, and bobby lane all of which made the cut so he killed me lol Quote
bighed Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 The more I see and hear Ike the more I like him. I really like the way he treats his young fans and the energy he brings to the sport! Quote

It's amazing what you get from the anglers after you turn off the camera and after you gain some trust. This is the second year that I've covered the Classic and I've eaten dinner with Boyd Duckett a few times at a friends house. So there is some trust there. I was standing there talking to Ike and Boyd walked up to compare notes with Ike. They were both using the Laser Lure and they were raving about it. Not to me but to each other. Quote
Minuteman Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Fantastic job on the interview. I had my fingers crossed for Ike, but I was very happy for Skeet. Quote
R@ngerman195vs Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Great interview!! Well done! Dare I say it? I've been one of the vocal critics of IKE, but guys...I gotta tell you...He really impressed me in this interview. I want to see more of IKE and get to know him better! Quote

Yes, he was using Steez reels along with a plethora of Diawa rods. And yes, he was using a black/blue jig. But just in case you think I'm trying to cover for him because we're friends, here's proof. I took these pictures while out on his boat the last day of practice. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 25, 2009 Super User Posted February 25, 2009 I would like to have half of those reels on his boat. I think he would be fun to fish with for a day. Lots of enthusiasm! Quote

Super User CWB Posted February 25, 2009 Super User Posted February 25, 2009 Deep down he really is a class guy. I've actually thrown my rod overboard once when I had a monster break me off. (I did jump in and get it) and I had no pressure on my other than what I put on myself. Imagine the pressure these guys are under. I talked with a rep from Strike King and he told me KVD had a minimum of 50 spectator boats pretty close to him each day, making noise, bumping into stumps etc. He was visibly upset but kept it in. Everyone handles difficult situation differently. I would of loved to see Ike repeat but Skeet was due. Excellent interview! Quote
RLinNH Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Wow. What a great Video. Great job Glenn. As far as Ike is comcerned, I now see him in a different light. He was very composed. I like that. He reminds me a lot of me. Gets very excited when fishing, yet very reserved when he needs to be. Quote
Rand Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Awesome footage. Thanks so much. BR RULES FOREVER!!!! Love me some Ike. Hes great. Starting to see more and more of Ike. Love his show City Limits Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Man I can't help it. I like the heck out of the guy. He loves what he does, he is clearly one of the best at it, and he appeals to another group of future fishermen. Quote
Muad Dib Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hey Fellas, Ive been a ike fan since i have seen him on tv. i always watch his show city limits. just seeing one of these pros as a pumped up enthusiastic fisherman is pretty awesome. i show some of the same "antics" when i go fishing and its nice to relate to one of the best. most of the other pros seem like they hold it in. i know if i was on that scene ike would have a def emotional rival haha not pro equal though! I remember when i caught my personal best i was screaming like u just cut off my casting hand! haha and i was also screaming when my lastest possible pb broke off. loved the interview and thought it was awesome he told us his method of fishing and equipment. well im sure u fellas are done listening to me but way to go IKE!!!!! and thanks for your time with bass resource and thanks glenn as ALWAYS trav Quote
