Super User Tin Posted February 18, 2009 Super User Posted February 18, 2009 Wow, I'm rip_____ right now. Got a call from the part owner of a corporation and he offered me quite the deal. They would pick up all of my Stren Series entry fees and expenses, but wait a second....I need to take summer classes to graduate on time. : And the Strens start on Weds or Thursdays plus a day of driving. My classes are 6-9:30 Monday to Thursday... Guess it will just be the Weekend Series this year.... > Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Who cares if you graduate on time? Live your life while you can dude. You can't do this when you have a job. If you need to pay for a semester from loans pay for loans. You don't have an apartment do you? I could see if you had an apartment and you didn't want to be stuck in a year lease for a semester. Did you pay for credits in the summer already? If not then screw it. I am in the 5 year plan as are 50% of my friends. Quote

farmpond1 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Can you take the course by correspondence or via the internet? Quote
cbfishalot Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Talk to your professors and try to work something out. Quote
fishizzle Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'm sure your professor will understand if you would rather fish. You will always be a great fisherman. You don't want to dissappoint the rents Turn down the offer and say "Next Year I'll be back" You will need a degree to fall back on Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 18, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 18, 2009 They are summer session classes so you meet 2-4 times a week, for 6 weeks, they try to cram in semester in 6 weeks. And of course, have an attendance policy, more than 2 misses and you're dropped from the class. Which is understandable, missing three classes is like missing 10 or 11. Just try to do it next year.... > Quote
Md Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 As a college grad, I feel your pain man. You need to take care of business in the classroom first and get that out of the way. But on the other hand, there aren't too many jobs right out of college, especially in this economy, that will allow you to take four or five weeks of vacation to do what you really love to do. That's a really tough decision. What is really messed up about your situation is that some college athletes rarely show up for class and take their tests when it is convenient for them, and the professors tolerate it because sports may lead to a career for them(besides they make money for the university). I saw it first hand over and over again at the Big Ten university I attended. The football or basketball players would show up for the first few days of class, and then they would disappear for the rest of the semester. In the beginning I thought they dropped the class, but often they would show up at the end of the semester for finals. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, because they have tutors and special aides, but your professors should cut you some slack because fishing may also lead to a career for you. If it were me, I would try my hardest to do both. What I would do to be in your shoes right now! Either way, good luck bro! Quote
Fish MD Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I can't believe I'm saying this but....college should be priority number 1. Well girls, then college. OK...ok...girls...parties...but then college. Either way, the person willing to front the money I'm sure will understand and probably respect you more for it. It shows wisdom at a seemingly young age. Quote
