IMPY03 Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 I was just wondering if anyone around has any of the shallow running Rick Clunn lures? I found 3 brand new lures in my gramps old fishing stuff downstairs along with a lot of other great things and I just thought it was pretty neat. He told me that K-mart had a clearence on these lures way back when and that he bought 144 lures for $.99 each!! Quote
Super User Munkin Posted September 9, 2008 Super User Posted September 9, 2008 Rick Clunn used that bait to win the Classic back in like 1990? Long ago they were a great bait until they started making them in Mexico. Quality control went out the window so a lot of the baits ended up with crooked bills, etc. Allen Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 10, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 10, 2008 Are they made of wood or plastic? If wood, they're good lures. Let me know if you're willing to sell them. Quote
Randall Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I have some. Had to go through a bunch of baits to find some good ones but the good ones catch fish. Some were impossible to tune to run right. There is a tackle shop/distributor here in GA that has hundreds of reject RC-1 baits with little things wrong with them. They sell them for $1.00 each. Super User cart7t Posted September 11, 2008 Super User Posted September 11, 2008 The original poes were cedar. The biggest eccentricity of the original baits was the paint would crack. The best way to handle that was with some clear finger nail polish. You can still find original poes RC1's and RC3's along with the 300 and 400 series divers on Ebay. Also, they pop up occasionally on the forums. Pretty reasonably priced too. They don't demand the big $$ like the original wiggle warts or older Bagley's balsa baits. Quote
frogtog Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Are these the ones you are talking about? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 11, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 11, 2008 3rd one in on the lower left is the RC3. The rest are the 400/500 series. Quote
