JigNBig Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Is anyone else fishing in this? Its a 500 boat tournament but well organized. Cannot decide if i want to fish or not, 500 boats is a ton of boats. Quote
fishizzle Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 wow 500 boats-- thats madness. The pot must be a million bucks. Do you have to get to the ramp the night before? I'd do it if I had some secret offshore spots---that is if I wasn't 1000 miles away How many places does it pay? In CT, 40 boats is too many in our lakes Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 3, 2009 Super User Posted February 3, 2009 You think that's a lot. Fish the McDonalds on Rayburn this year and you will have 5,000 entries. BTW it is paying a million dollars. Quote
Jeremy D. Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Yea but pros dont go to those because it is such a mess its not worth it for them to get involved! Thats the great thing about the marks outdoors tornament it is more fun than anything....they have 15 of the top name pros fishing with kids and it is very organized and after the tornament they throw out 85,000 dollars worth of fishing stuff from lucky craft lures to shimano rods and reels! Theres nothing like it no place Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 3, 2009 Super User Posted February 3, 2009 Same with the McDonalds. If you paid 400.00 entryfee more than three times during the last 12 months you are not eligible. Keeps the pros out of the picture and out of the mess. And it is a mess. Quote
Ready2Fish Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Yea but pros dont go to those because it is such a mess its not worth it for them to get involved! Jeremy D. Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Lay lake it's about 45 min. from here.....I never knew about this and I guess its been going on for years. I went to B-ham for and checked out the boat show(it was alright very small).......Marks outdoors had a booth there that had all kinds of plactics for $1 a bag....any way....when I was at the regester they put a dvd from last years tornament (Lay Lake 2008 Open) I watched it and it made me want to fish it!!!! JigNBig Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 yeah it pays 25k to the winner i think and pays the top 60 spots, 60th getting their 125.00 entry fee back. the least you get back is a bag filled with lures from all of the sponsors even if you come back with a zero. And yes after the weigh in they throw out 85,00 worth of lures, rods, reel, plastics, and other stuff. last year i got t shirts and lots of tackle. anyone in alabama needs to drive down for this event. its may 2nd at paradise point marina. we are signed up for this event. it should be an interesting day.
