Lane Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 We are very excited about HBC 3! We attended HBC 1 and 2, now it is coming to one of our home lakes! We are national sponsors, but I am going to be a VTO for this event, and I know somebody in my household that wants to fish in the event. Kudos to Ken Huddleston and Ron Cervenka for putting on a great event dedicated to the trophy hunters. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 24, 2008 Super User Posted July 24, 2008 This should be exciting, but I'm surprised they could get the Kalifornia guys to come to Texas! : Quote
Lane Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 HBC is going national, so Texas is going to be the first stop. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 24, 2008 Super User Posted July 24, 2008 Are any of our boys invited? 8-) Quote
Lane Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Roadwarrior, I don't see why not. There will be some open slots after the first 20 in the standing decide if they are coming to Texas. I know for a fact that Butch Brown and Shuan Bailey will be down at Amistad, there are a few others out in California that are working on coming to Texas. Tony wants to fish it, and I am going to be a VTO for the event. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 25, 2008 Super User Posted July 25, 2008 Big boys line up, little ones bunch up... The big dog's back in town! 8-) Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 29, 2008 Author Super User Posted July 29, 2008 With the change to the pre fishing rule; you can pre fish up to the day before the tournament, makes it feasible to only take 1 week off work to travel and fish this tournament successfully. There are 50 spots open; 20 spots pre qualified, that leaves 30 spots open to local or other qualified trophy bassers. This is a put your skills to the test against the best type of event, one big bass wins it all. WRB PS; the new format makes this a 2 day event, the top 3 fish for the $50K the second day. Quote
Mattlures Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I am soo tempted to fish it. Byron Velvick told me he would even show me around the lake before hand and I could stay at his lodge but I just cant afford it right now. Towing my boat, $1000 entry fee, It would be fun though. I am sure there are some boys in Texas who can stck pigs when they need to but I like the the Cali guys in this one Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 1, 2008 Super User Posted August 1, 2008 Well, the Cali boys have had two shots on local water and haven't caught a 10 between them. I guess that must be part of the reason why they moved the event to Texas! Quote
Mattlures Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 No Don Osbourn caught a 10 in the first one. Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 13, 2008 Author Super User Posted August 13, 2008 If you plan to fish this tournament, this week is the dead line to sign up, in fact it may already be filled. I'm trying to rearrange some out of country business trips, so far it's not going well for me. November at Amistad; have no idea what the conditions maybe, stormy transitional weather? 10 lb bass could be a big fish that time of year at Amistad. WRB Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 3, 2008 Super User Posted October 3, 2008 Its been cancelled due to economy and some of the sponosrs backed out. Sorry to see this. Was looking forward to seeing some big fish caught. Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 3, 2008 Author Super User Posted October 3, 2008 Just got the word from Ron that HBC-3 was canceled. The HBC-4 is still on the table for 2009 pre spawn period, if the ecconomy recovers. WRB Quote
