Bass XL Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I went to Truman Lake (biggest lake in Missouri) this weekend for a tournament that was to be held today. My dad and I went pre-fishing Saturday and caught fish like crazy. Most fish were coming on jerkbaits and frogs, so we were getting some vicious strikes. In total, my best five would have been about 15 or 16 pounds. I hear that another club won it with a 7-pound bag, so I figured I had this thing in the bag.... WRONG!!! With hurricane Ike coming through, we got hammered with rain and wind all night. We get to the boat ramp this morning and the rain is still going hard. We get the word from the tournament director that the tournament has been canceled. We had nowhere to go, so we parked the boat and truck in the parking lot and napped for about 30 minutes. When I woke up, it's partly cloudy (some sun) and no rain. We decided to go out, and we crushed 'em again. Darn, I probably would have done good in this one. State championship is next month, so hopefully I get on a strong pattern there too. Quote
family guy Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 :-?i don't understand? are you upset that the tourny was cancelled?or are you mad at IKE?or are you just saying you had a good day fishing in the rain ? Quote
mase088 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 i think he is saying that if the tournament wouldn't have been canceled, he would of crushed it. Quote

Super User Sam Posted September 17, 2008 Super User Posted September 17, 2008 Bass XL, This was a test. One of life's little tests. So did you pass it? Did you wonder why you had the test? Maybe something terrible was going to happen to you on the water. Maybe you would have been accused of cheating at the weigh-in if you did so much better than the other guys. Mabye your boat would have capsized or you would have been battered around and gotten hurt? Who knows? So this happened for a reason and you are now a stronger person and fisherman to accept it as part of your life's experiences. Now we all expect to read how you killed them in your next tournament so quit complaining and get ready to do some fishing. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted September 17, 2008 Super User Posted September 17, 2008 or maybe he would've gone out, choked and caught nothing. God works in mysterious ways. Quote
Bass XL Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 I totally agree guys. Everything happens for a reason right? Quote
