Hi all, David here first let me just say what a great site this is! I have been here one week and I have already learned so many new things, so thanks to all who willingly distribute their knowledge to help make us all become better anglers. Now on to the issue, I am 20 years old and I have never fished a tournament. I am a self taught bass fisherman, eager to get into tournament fishing. I now own a 1985 Landau bass boat ,not exactly a triton or nitro, but it floats/runs which is the primary necessity. I am here asking for tips on how to go about getting onto a tournament circuit and how to go about getting sponsors. Any and all help is much appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Wacky Dave

Join a club in your area. Be active and test the waters fishing the club tournaments. There will usually be several members in the club that fish larger circuits and they will be happy to help you with your issues.

You will need to do well in the club or you might want to get a little more experience before jumping into a big tournament. Or at least go as a non boater.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the Forum.

The best place to obtain bass fishing information in the world.

Correct as stated above.  Join a local bass club and the guys will tell you all about either the TBF or B.A.S.S. tournaments plus other open tournaments in your area.

And check out local tackle shops as they usually have informationon the open tournaments. Some are the same day of the week on specific bodies of water so ask your favorite marina for information, too.

And if you think you are enjoying yourself now, wait until football season is upon us and we can have fun with you when either Bama or Auburn lose.  Especially all the LSU guys on the site. For some reason, they just do not love Bama and Nickie Satan.

So which are you?  Alabama or Auburn?

And NEVER, NEVER say Tulane.

Born and raised an Auburn fan. I now attend Troy University a smaller school, but we play some big names. This year we have Ohio State, L.S.U , and our "big home game," is Ball State. So I am all Trojans now! Sorry to disappoint.  Thanks for the advice guys.

Check out the American Bass Anglers trail in your area.  You can fish as a non-boater and get lots of experience for only $70 a tourney.
