Im fishing a local tournament this weekend. I went out last thursday close to my house and caught 20 to 22 lbs. wich was awesome. The problem i have is the tournament is held an hour and a half boat ride from where i caught my fish. Wich only leaves me about 4 1\2 hours to fish. The average weigh in is around 17 lbs. Should i make the run?

Absolutely. If you know that that place potentially holds the winning fish, then I definitely would go there.

Man, it's my favorite part of watching tounament fishermen:

"They're over there!"

If you guys spent twice the time on half the water you would catch four times the fish.

After a few hours you could cull the 12", 3/4 lb fish and go after 1 1/2 pound kickers!

Check your math, he said he caught 20-22 pounds ;)

Good luck Peidy P :)

if you have confidence that you can get the bites you need, then make the run.  i know i would.

if "local tournament" = payout less than $1000

if 3 hours run @18-20 gph @$4.00 - $216 - $240

if 20-22lbs = not guaranteed

"local tournament" + 3 hours run + finicky fish = find something closer to the ramp, you are running by lots of fish.

You are betting your tournament results on 9 day old information?

Good luck   ;)

.....and yet another low blow to all tournament fisherman from a non-tournament fisherman  ::)

As for making the long run....if you're THAT confident you can win the tournament going that far and the sheer pride in winning outweighs the thirst for money, I say go for it. (but I'd go practice that area as close to the tournament as I could)  ;)

I made a 128 mile run Saturday and ended up with nothing It took 38 gals of gas ( 3.368 mpg ) this was metal to the carpet speeds. Sunday at the same river I had a limit in

30 minutes and didn't burn about 3 gal. of gas. ;) Hmmm I think Preacher hit the pipeline before I got there Saturday.

Who, me? ::)

By the way, that picture of you in the "Picture of Yourself" thread, is that the train tressell above Hamilton?;)

Hope you won Sunday! :)

I came in 4th and the trestle is at Gaston. The one above Hamilton is fixing to fall in the river. The center column has moved about three feet since March. Now thats going to be a big splash.
