Del from philly Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 FIRST- and most importantly... *WHAT IS WITH THE "GAWLLLLY" every fish they catch. I know its a sourthern thing, but they all say it the same way....youd think they would try and change it up *Why do these guys dress like nascar? *Whats up the with Sandals EVERYBODY is wearing....they look really bad with the racing gear..... *How do they dress in those type of clothing in the summer? Dont they get hot as hell? *Why do they do the same things...fashions, slang, technique, just seems like nobody is doing their own thing... *Why do they push their products so unconvincingly and unapologeticly? it seems like they dont even try sometimes.... All i can say is I am saddened by our sport these days. The ads. The plugs. The money. The overcrowded lakes. Just seems like less and less people fish for fishing these days. The big bass guys fight like girls and seem very petty. Lying about what they use, It just sounds like a real mess in Cali right now. I dont know.....Im glad fishing is such a popular sport, but let me just say this.....Im glad I live in Philly..... Quote

I know its a sourthern thing, but they all say it the same way....youd think they would try and change it up - I've heard, Boo Yah, That's what I'm talking about, Come and gitcha some of that and YEEEEEAAAAAAHHH among others. *Why do these guys dress like nascar? - because they have sponsors they have to promote like NASCAR. *Whats up the with Sandals EVERYBODY is wearing....they look really bad with the racing gear..... Most tourneys are in the summer and it's really hot. *How do they dress in those type of clothing in the summer? Dont they get hot as hell? Don't know. *Why do they do the same things...fashions, slang, technique, just seems like nobody is doing their own thing... - Ike has 20s on his trailer wears skate shoes, Skeet's doing the all yellow and black thing with way too high spiked up hair, Casey Ashley wore khakis at the classic weigh ins not all guys wear khakis. *Why do they push their products so unconvincingly and unapologeticly? it seems like they dont even try sometimes.... It's their job. I push things at work that I wouldn't push otherwise but the people that pay tell me too. All i can say is I am saddened by our sport these days. The ads. The plugs. The money. The overcrowded lakes. Just seems like less and less people fish for fishing these days. - I don't think that's the case at all. I see a lot more advertisment to get kids fishing these days. I think a lot more people fish just to fish these days you just don't wee them on t.v. The big bass guys fight like girls and seem very petty. Lying about what they use, It just sounds like a real mess in Cali right now. I dont know.....Im glad fishing is such a popular sport, but let me just say this.....Im glad I live in Philly..... Just my opinions. Quote

I watched so much fishing over the winter that I haven't really wanted to watch anything for the past month or so. Quote

I do for one, I am opening a fishing clothing store FIRST- and most importantly... *WHAT IS WITH THE "GAWLLLLY" every fish they catch. I know its a sourthern thing, but they all say it the same way....youd think they would try and change it up *Why do these guys dress like nascar? The advertisers are targeting the exact same demographic. Kind of like how come baseball and football(completely different sports) have all the same kind of ads of guys in bars drinking beer? Same demographic *Whats up the with Sandals EVERYBODY is wearing....they look really bad with the racing gear.....That's pretty much opinion. There are some high tech sandals out there that match as far as colors go. They perform well. You can go in the water up to your shorts (launching) etc. Much more comfortable to let your feet breath in the summer temps *How do they dress in those type of clothing in the summer? Dont they get hot as hell?Nowhere near as hot (or stinky) as if they were wearing the old cotton jerseys. The new tournament shirts are moisrure wicking, ant-microbial and anti-bacterial. PERFECT for fishing *Why do they do the same things...fashions, slang, technique, just seems like nobody is doing their own thing...Which brings us back to good 'ol Ike. Don't say "Noone" because I can think of one hip-hop influenced guy with a look of street wear as opposed to bubba wear. Ike. Now, many in the sport may not relate to his style but many of us northern suburbanites do *Why do they push their products so unconvincingly and unapologeticly? it seems like they dont even try sometimes....Apologize for having a sponsor??? All i can say is I am saddened by our sport these days. The ads. The plugs. The money. The overcrowded lakes. If that's the world they chose to create, it's their world to live in,lol I dont know.....Im glad fishing is such a popular sport, but let me just say this.....Im glad I live in Philly.....And I'm glad I'm from RI, but that has nothing to do with fishing or the current state of the industry, the ethics of fishing are the same from East coast to west coast and everything in between Quote

Super User Root beer Posted April 6, 2008 Super User Posted April 6, 2008 Plus those long sleeves vented shirts will save you money and time on use of sunscreen!! It also prevent skin damage due to exposure to the sun. Quote
frogtog Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Where can I find some of the shirts? I have been wearing long sleeve pull over T shirts ( Black ones ) and they are hot as hail. Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 columbia makes some good ones, you can get them at bass pro shops. The powder blue is my favorite Quote
Super User Root beer Posted April 7, 2008 Super User Posted April 7, 2008 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=72470&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults Of course under armour carries some loose heat gear long sleeves that works almost the same. Trust me it worth the 40 some bucks. Quote
ba7ss3in Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think that you are talking about the same shirt. Those new tourney shirts run about $130. I saw some at the classic by Stratos. They want come out unitl next year, I think. Quote

Tokyo Tony Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I think all those sponser-covered shirts look horrendous. I don't care about having sponsers on them at all - the sponsers make pro bass fishing possible, and if it weren't for pro bass fishing, I'm sure we'd have much less tackle and gear to choose from, and probably less knowledge about bass fishing in general. I just think those NASCAR-style shirts do not fit fishing at all. If I were a pro basser, I'd wear a fishing shirt like those Columbia ones (that are awesome ), and probably a straw hat and flip flops. Maybe a couple sponsor names/logos, but not those obnoxiously loud atrocities 8-) Quote

Tokyo Tony Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I suspect you might change your mind for a few hundred thousand dollars! Yeah, I guess I'd wear them, but I wouldn't enjoy it. And with the $100K's I'd buy a multitude of Columbia fishing shirts, straw hats, and flip flops ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted April 20, 2008 Super User Posted April 20, 2008 Just Google search Gemini Sports Marketing....the shirts on that site (the G2's) are the shirts the pros are wearing now. The Columbia vented shirts are nice as well but they aren't what the pros are wearing. Quote
