O.k. but how do you know where I have fished and I don't know where you have fished. I hope you all understand my fit is more about a public figure acting poorly and mean no malice to anybody in here. I would have said the same of any elite angler that acts this way. That wasn't an Italian attack in any way. Lets do it 6 hours 3 fish minimum

I met IKE before at the Classic in 2006.  Seemed like a nice guy, was signing for the kids and gave his fans time.  Although, I think it would be incorrect to use that one moment in time to judge his character.  Like anyone else in life, famous or not, he is going to have people who like him and haters.

Other than that who am I to judge him or anyone else?

Whatever floats your boat, if you like the guy then so be it, if not then who cares.  Lastly, I don't think Ike gives a darn about an individual's opinion unless that said person is writing a check in his name or someone he cares about.

How about mosqito or the big lake?

Muddy

This should be good!!! If you need a observer let me know I will fly out from Colorado to watch this one. Mosqito Lake is in Cortland OH Just outside of the Warren and Youngstown area. I'm grew up there and a big bass will be the size of a average smallmouth on the big lake.

I've never been a fan of Ike. I admit he's a monumentally talented fisherman, he's also an obnoxious clown.

Sorry to all the Ike fans in advance! If you have a look at the April 2008 Bassmaster magazine page 14 you will see what I mean. Why does a world class bass fisherman like Mike think he needs to take such photos? Who is he exactly trying to intimidate? Me, you or the fish he is throttling? I definitely respect his climb to the top but my 7 year old daughter has more intimidation factor. She is sugar and spice and everything nice. We are close in age but his maturity is on the level of a 3 grader. Whereas you might relate a KVD to a Tiger Woods you could compare Mike to a Terrel Owens or Ocho Cinco. Intimidating he is not - a poor sport he is. I would really like to take that fish and smack the s__t out of the 135 pound soaking wet punk . All the articles on the nice things he does or has done are a moot point when I look at him from a "passionate" bass anglers view! I have lost fish that cost me thousands of dollars but have never had the urge to headbutt my boat, scream like a girl or show any unsportsmanlike conduct. That's not passion it is a selling point that has backfired a time or two (didn't Ranger drop him or something?). Why do people think he is more passionate than the other ELITE members? Because thats what he says he is and would like people say! It is an excuse to try and cover his tail. I met him at a sportsmans show awhile ago and kinda liked him but he wasn't running around screaming he was more on sponsor please don't drop me mode. I would like for him to have an excuse like tourettes syndrome. He doesn't. I know I am new to the site and don't mean to ruffle to many feathers but I got the mag today saw the pic and was irked. I do plan on taking my fishing to the next level once my future is financially secure (soon I hope) but I guess I will never be as "passionate" as Ike.

I don't have time to read all the replies to this thread, but I hope everyone has a similar opinion as me.  Who in the world are you to judge what is "mature" and what is not?

Are you saying you never get pumped when you catch a good fish?

Do you never scream and get angry when you lose a good fish?

I autographed my friends forehead right after I caught my 14lber, and then 2 months later, snapped a rod over my knee when I lost a 5lber in the tournament.  Am I mature?  Am I to passionate?  I would love to hear your opinion?

Grow up.

I admire what Ike has accomplished through bass fishing, his work with youth, and his willingness to share his knowledge. He is one smart businessman and an interesting celebrity. And I think he has done more to bring youth into the sport of fishing than any other professional angler on the circuit.

I also don't relish some of his on-camera antics, but I always thought it was a generation gap sort of thing. Awhile ago I started to wonder why I never gave much thought to similar antics by other athletes, only when it applies to pro bass fisherman. Right or wrong, I've come to realize what really bothers me about some of his (and others) public over-the-top conduct. Here is it: I've had problems while fishing, with some dock and property owners on public waters. Some feel they own the public lake. I've always found that acting humble and courteous usually will stem their anger. Somehow I look at Ike's type of antics as what these property owners need to sway public opinion to their cause, and to put more restrictions on bass fishermen angling in public waters. Now if my thought process is wrong (and it probably is), then I say go Ike... Be yourself!

No matter what, he does do a lot of good for the sport! And you can't deny that he's one heck of an angler.

Who has a video camera to head up and cover this magnificient sporting event?  That would be a sweet little promotion for bassresource!  Haha.  Wish I could be there.  Sounds like fun guys.

In response to the last reply on this thread.  Mike has made himself almost a celebrity and definately represents a group of up and coming anglers.  A lot of young guys that fish, myself included are starting to get fired up about the sport because of the intensity Mike brings.  Watching him on camera gets me in the mood to get out there and whack em'.  He gives me hope, ambition, and drive that I may not have as much of if I hadn't seen or heard of him.  Maybe the generation gap is a little different and Mike just tailors himself to a younger audience.  No problem with that.

Are all you sentimental, quiet, reserved type fishermen gonna get mad when you see young guys like us on tour getting pumped when we land that monster at last minute before weigh in?  I may never be doing that but I'm sure there will be anglers like Mike to follow.  Maybe not in the near future.  But it's coming.  The sport is definately changing guys.  But I don't think it's a bad thing at all.  Every sport has their characters.  Mike makes the sport interesting.  Everyone has to agree with that.

if you manage yourself, everything will be fine. some athletes love to showboat--it happens in all sports. when i played football my coach always said "when you get into the end zone, act like you have been there before". i think ike is great for bass fishing and he contributes a lot to the sport and his community. i personally love his antics--i get fired up as well when i catch a good fish in a tourny. i am not going to tell you to grow up, because it is not my place. if you don't like ike, that is your opinion. i like the guy--that cat can flat out fish.

Bottom line is....you like him or you don't! Best thing to do.....keep it to yourself.

Bass fishing is a growing sport. It doesn't need critizism from it's own!

I'm like Senko77. I didn't read all of this but when I glanced at a couple post a Brad Pasley song came to mind.  :)
