Bassbilly Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Is anybody signed up for this FLW Fantasy Fishing? The Lake Toho tournament starts today...does anybody know if there is a way to keep up to date on how the anglers are doing? I wish there was a blog like they had at the Classic. Anybody have predictions on who they think is gonna do well in this tournament? Quote
jaskoh Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I am playing FLW for the first time this year. I did BASS last year. I don't think BASS did the blog for the other tournaments. You basically had to wait for the day to be over to see how your doing. Picking my team a couple days ago I realized how much more I like the BASS format. Picking between 200 angers with no salary cap would take forever if I put any time and energy into it. I tried for my first two picks then said we are going to roll the dice. If I get B.S. lucky and win the 100gs it will be exactly that. B.S. Luck. Quote

I did the same though I forgot to save my team so I think I am out for this tourney http://www.fantasyfishing.com/article.cfm?newsid=148023 Quote
Bassbilly Posted February 28, 2008 Author Posted February 28, 2008 It seems to me you play the averages. I'm not real familiar with the FLW guys other than Luke Clausen, Larry Nixon, Jay Yelas and maybe a few others, but if you look at the standings from the last couple years you can tell what guys are consistently in the Top 20 and then which guys perform better in different regions/conditions. That's how I'm picking them anyway. Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 The top 10 listed in that lake, I chose 4 of those anglers Quote
Ballpark Frank Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Bassbilly81, picking your anglers and waiting till weigh in, is about all you can do without spending money. For my picks I used the normal FLW site and another site to get some information. FLW has a Player's Advantage package that has alot of extras for the fantasy fisherman; angler profiles, vids, podcasts, lake info, etc. I think it is around $30-$40 to get. I have a friend that has Player's Advantage and really likes it. I am going over to his place tomorrow to check it out. I am thinking of signing up for it, but want to see it first. This fantasy stuff is addictive. I started out with NFL a few years back, now I play NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, PGA, BASS, and FLW. I have a bunch of notebooks just to keep up with it all. Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Someone with the players advantage could always just share useful info with us. Though like stated in the post above me I am sure you can find info in other places... I would search what each (more favored) anglers strengths and weaknesses are and compare that to the water/conditions they will be fishing. Quote
JayDub Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I went back to the past tourny's held on Toho at around the same time of year, and looked for guys that were pretty consistent, then I matched and combined that with locals, guys' strengths that compliment with the lake, etc.... you can spend alot of time researching, or you can buy the players advantage if you think it would help, or you could just take a lucky, lucky shot at it. JayDub Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 By the way, how does y'alls standings look after day 1? Mine aren't too hot... :-/ I TRUELY believe my guys would have rocked them if the weather hadn't of been like it is. Mine are sitting in: 6th 12th 21st 60th 71st 79th 87th 94th 158th and 164th. Quote
jaskoh Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 hahah B.S. Luck got me. 12,17,60,79,94,128,158,164,169 Looks like im going to be concentrating on BASS. (121st overall) Quote
Bass XL Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 actually mine arnt too bad at all for being just randomly picked! 12th 138 178 50 54 1 8 58 60 16 I noticed that almost everyone picked jay yelas & Luke Clausen Quote
JayDub Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Yea, they are two favorites for a tournament on toho... Quote
JayDub Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 It's never good when one of your picks says "This is probably my worst tournament EVER!" .... > :-/ (Scott Martin...) Quote
Mavrik Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I got 3 anglers left in the top ten after today. How about you guys? Quote
Ballpark Frank Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I have one angler getting to fish tomorrow. Quote
Bassbilly Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Half of my guys were in the top 100, but only Shinchi made the last day. My wife's team has 3 guys in the top 10 and a couple more in the top 20. Has anyone heard when they are going to put out the standings? This frustrated me all weekend. In fantasy football all of the stats are real-time and you don't have to wait to find out where you ended up. Quote
TruflShufl Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Anyone who's in the BassResource league... the Truffles are a force not to be reckoned with 8-) I was only about 400 points shy of being in the money. Maybe next time Quote
Mavrik Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 The standings are now up for the Lake Toho Fantasy Fishing. Quote
